Alan Whitefield, Associate Consultant, Holmwood Consulting Alan Whitefield has been involved in commercial aspects of the physical and derivative LNG and natural gas business from proprietary trading through to setting up trading desks and asset optimisation. He has 15 years’ prior experience and was most recently Head of LNG at ICAP Energy where he set up and managed the LNG broking desk. Prior to this, Alan has held a Managing Consultant position in another consulting company focussed on ETRM solutions, was Director of Gas Trading for Credit Suisse International, Senior Gas Trader

He began his energy career at the power utility Endesa, where he contributed to its European expansion. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, MBA and he successfully completed a Master’s Degree in Electricity and a postgraduate programme in Venture Capital.

He serves as Study Group Lead on the International Gas Union (IGU) Programme Committee D.2 (PGC D.2), “LNG and New Markets” for the 2009-2012 IGU Triennium and in the previous triennium served on PGCD.1 Study Group on “LNG and Gas Inter-changeability.” Prior to joining AGA, Mr. Williams was Senior Project Manager on LNG Safety Research for the Gas Research Institute (GRI) where he served as the project management lead on LNG research for 11 years. Helena Wisden, Senior Trading Manager, Cheniere Helena has worked in a number of LNG market-facing positions at companies including Marex Spectron and Poten. She joined the commercial team at Cheniere three years ago to develop

LNG trading in the short term market. With Cheniere’s first liquefaction plant due to start producing in 2015 she is currently focused on creating trading opportunities for the company’s short term LNG cargoes.

recommendations on listed pan-European gas stocks and in-depth research on gas issues. Thierry covered the gas chain from upstream to downstream with BG Group, Centrica, Enagas, Gas Natural, Gazprom, GDF SUEZ and Snam Rete Gas. Thierry was, from 2002 to 2007, Senior Oil & Gas expert at

the French Department of Trade and Industry, where he represented France on oil markets and emergency questions at the International Energy Agency (Paris), the European Commission and the Energy Charter (Brussels). Prior to that, Thierry was, for six years, Head of Internal Communication at IFP. Dr. Bros is also a visiting faculty professor at several universities and a speaker at international conferences on gas-related subjects.

Melissa Lindsay, Global Head of LNG, TULLETT PREBONMelissa has over 7 years’ experience in the LNG industry, specialising in LNG spot trading. Melissa currently is Global Head of LNG Tullett Prebon having established the desk in

October 2007. The desk’s primary objective is to facilitate global transactions of LNG through improving market transparency, identifying trading opportunities and structuring LNG deals. Melissa and her team, operating out of London and Singapore, have concluded trades on spot cargoes, regasified LNG and regasification capacity, and in 2012 concluded their first medium term deals. She has pioneered the development of a financial LNG swaps market in the Far East with Citibank which now frequently trades on Tullett Prebon’s screen, tpENERGY.

Kwok Wan, LNG Editor, Argus MediaKwok Wan is the LNG editor at Argus. He is responsible for the publication, Argus LNG Daily providing LNG price assessments, analysis, and news. Before joining Argus, he worked at Petroleum Economist and Reuters. He also has a post graduate diploma in journalism and a master‘s degree in

theoretical physics.

Jose Ramon Arango has been with the Panama Canal since 1991. Until 2000, he held several positions in Canal Financial Management and Organizational Effectiveness. In 2001 he was transferred to the Executive Vice Presidency for Planning and Business Development as an International Trade Analyst for the Liquid Bulk Segment, responsible for research, analysis and management of studies and relevant information about logistics, international trade and world economy and its impact in Canal competitiveness against other routes and liquid bulk transportation alternatives. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Santa María La Antigua, Master Studies in Maritime Development from the School of Law from the University of Panama. He completed executive programs in Advanced Maritime Economics and Logistics, from the Center of Maritime Economic and Logistics - Erasmus University of Rotterdam, on Pricing Strategies from The Transportation Center of Northwestern University and on Project Management from Texas A&M University.

What has happened, where are we and what is the future path for LNG shipping?

Andrew Clifton, General Manager, SIGTTOAndrew Clifton became General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) in November 2012. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, not least over 30 years in the liquefied gas shipping industry. This involvement includes 19 years at

sea, mainly on liquefied gas carriers, a first class honours degree in shipping operations and shore managerial experience over the last 12 years. The latter includes three years working at the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), almost two years in the SIGTTO Secretariat as a Technical Adviser and, most recently, over five years based in Indonesia as LNG Shipping Operations Manager for the BP Tangguh LNG project. In this most recent posting Andrew was responsible for the project’s shipping activities and overseeing their development, from construction through vessel delivery to the plant commissioning and entry into service of the ships built to serve the project. Andrew was also the SIGTTO Panel chairman from October

2008. Andrew is the eighth and youngest General Manager and the first GM who was formerly a Technical Adviser at the Society.
