Academic leadership as ‘… a practical and everyday process of supporting, managing, developing and inspiring academic colleagues...’ (Ramsden, 1998:4)

Academic leadership is the act of building a community of scholars to set direction and achieve common purpose through the empowerment of faculty and staff (Gmelch & Wolverton, 2002)

• Established in January 2008• An organization under the Ministry of

Education, Malaysia• Is in line with the launching of National Higher

Education Strategic Plan (NHESP) - to transform higher education in Malaysia, especially in the area of human capital development.

AKEPT’s Vision

To be acknowledged as the global benchmark and referral centre for Higher

Education Leadership, Learning and Teaching and Research and Innovation.
