Introduction
• Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa is located in Addu Atoll (Seenu Atoll) approximately 478 kilometres south from capital, Malé.
• Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa was opened in July 2009 as the first luxury hotel in south equator Maldives, in Addu Atoll.
• This resort is mainly targeted upper class customers and mostly business travellers.
• Currently they are established with 132 villas.
• Their rooms allocates with private rooms to tropical tree houses.

• Since the establishment of Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa, the community of
Addu Atoll has gained lot of benefits in various ways.
• The opportunities and the assistance initiates the opportunity to local industry and
community.
• Local Farmer’s Corporative
Fruits and vegetables are supplied by nearby local islands to the resort. This
opportunity helps to build business relationship with resort creating a corporate
society for successful production.
In Addition traditional local products are being sold in the resort.
A farm in an uninhabited Island of Addu Atoll called Savaahili Island
• In order to contribute to the economic development of the community and to reduce import good the resort has signed an agreement with the Foundation of MeedhooDevelopment for purchasing local fruits and vegetables. This also helps in reducing carbon emitting resulting from the flying in to import goods.

with 18,001 certification from OHSAS
with health and safety committee.
Irrespective of service level, age and
gender, all the employees of Shangri-La
should complete four hours of training
programme per month.

• The Eco-Centre in resort provides bicycle in order to explore around the island.
• Coral plantation and new coral enhancement programme.
• Solar panels on villa roofs provides 50% of the energy consumed by each villa.
• Insulated villas are fitted with micro switches.
• Around 240,000 bottles are reduced with the help of bottling plants and these bottles are reusable.

“environmental days” on regular basis.
– This event is held among the employees, guest and the community activities such as beach, land and reef cleaning.

Shangri-La’s Reef Care Project.
– This project is held in order to create awareness about the biodiversity conservation. Its
creates interests to marine life and threats facing them due to guest activities to diving
exploration.
Economical Growth
Despite of the economical growth within the community of Shangri-La's
Villingili Resort and Spa, it has being reported that the resort has claimed
loses of $9.6 million in 2012 statistics.
The resort is 70% shares of Shangri-La's and 30% ownership of the
government.
It has being assumed that these loses were raised due political unrest in
Maldives.

• Implementation of effective Human Resource rules and regulations.
