• It is first appeared in British novelist James Hilton’s Lost Horizon in the 1939. • It is an utopia which couldn’t exist on earth. • In Tibetan, Shangri-La means the “sun and moon in heart” • Shangri-La is located at the point where Tibet, Suchuan and Yunnan all meet.

• It is administrated by Diging Tibetan Autonomous Perfecture, Yunnan Province. • In the past, Shangri-La was called Zhongdian or “Jiantang” in Tibetan then changed to Shangri-La in 2002. • In Shangri-La, there many ethic groups and Tibetans are the majority of the population.

• It has border with Myanmar to the northwest.

• It is known as an ancient southwest Silk Route town. In the time of Ming dynasty, many Chinese went abroad to Burma and Southeast Asia to trade and settle.

• At that time Tengchong was known as the “homeplace of the overseas Chinese. In Tengchong, there are volcanic mountains, Hot springs and fountains.

Myitkiyna• It is the capital city of the Kachin

state in Myanmar.

• There is a place called “Hpa Kent”, which is the best place for jade mine in the world.

• It is the mysterious town and just open to the world for travelers to visit.

4-Day 3- Night Follow the Eye of Shangri-la

ItineraryDay 1

Leave Bangkok, get yourself ready to see the Land called “Heaven on earth”. Transfer to local flight from Kunming to Shangri-la. Then take a local taxi to the spectacular surrounding environment hotel, Banyan Tree Ringha, which is located at the center of Shangri-la, where you can see the mountains, amid canyon, rivers, plateaus and valley. Get a warm welcome and refreshment while checking-in at the hotel. Relax for a while then go sight seeing around and learning the traditional life style of people at the Ancient Town in Dukezong. Then fill up your stomach with a delicious local food provided by local people while absorbing romantic atmosphere during sunset. After that enjoy yourself by joining hands, forming circle and follow Traditional Tibetan Folk Dancer perform the dance called ”Guozhuang” at night.

Day 2

Get up in the very nice morning, have breakfast then prepare yourself for the wonderful day. Start the trip with the largest Tibetan Buddhism monastery in Yunnan province, Songzanlin Lamasery, which is the house of strong faith of Shangri-la people. Then take a bus and drop at Shuangqiao, half way to Bita lake. Now it’s time for you to experience the scenic beauty of the nature while riding on a horse before arriving at the tranquil Bita Lake and feel the way you become a very little creature in an embrace of nature. Stop for lunch at local restaurant. Then continue the journey to the Haba Snow mountain, where you can see the clouds touch the mountain, there are variety of plants, species of protected animals and many kinds of azalea.

Day 3

Pack your luggage for departure to Baoshan. Then start your adventure driving trip to Tengchong, which is known as an ancient southwestern silk route town and the homeplace of the oversea Chinese. Visit the Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyr where Chinese brave soldiers gave their lives to protect the country from Japanese invasion were buried. Then drive along the road to experience beautiful natural scenery and historical relics at Laifeng Hill National Forest Park which is the symbol of Tengchong. Taste original Tengchong food at local restaurant then relax and have medical treatment at Hot Sea, the hot spring water. After that it’s time to immerse yourself as original Lizu minority people, get to know their lifestyle and culture, learn their traditional, and stay over night to completely absorb a great memory with them.

Day 4It’s time to leave China and continue the trip to Myitkyina, a mysterious and small city in Myanmar. Take the flight to Mandalay first then transfer to Myitkyina by local flight. Go sightseeing around the city to see the original pattern of life in Myanmar. Take a boat and experience beautiful scenery and lifestyle of people in Kachin village along Ayeyarwaddy River. Then get back on land to go shopping and buy souvenirs for friends and family back home. It’s the last day for you to meet Myanmar people so don’t waste your time, go and talk to them before flying back to Bangkok.
