ShaftgoeshomeandreceivesmedicalattentionfromadoctorworkingundergroundwithhimShafttellsBentorounduphismenandmeethimatthehotelwhereMarcyhasbeentaken,topreparetogetherback.HealsocallsBumpytotellhimhisdaughterisfineandheisgoingtoneedsometaxicabstomeethimatthehotelforthegetaway.
Shaft'splanresemblesamilitarycommandostyleoperation.Ben'smenalldressashotelworkerstoavoidarousingsuspicion.ShaftandoneofBen'smengototheroofandpreparetoentertheroomwhereMarcyisbeingheldcaptive.Shaft'splanistocauseadistractionwithanexplosivethrownthroughthewindowofMarcy'sroomwhileBenandhismencomedownthehallanddealwiththeMafiamenastheyleavetheirrooms.
