Transcript of Shadow PlayPlaytime continues Jessica’s themes of exploration, adventure, passion and...
Entitled Playtime, Jessica Zoob’s new collection celebrates the exuberance, unexpectedness and sheer heady enjoyment of life. These are canvases that vibrate with energy and encapsulate her passionate and bold approach to her work. In 2013, Loughran Gallery had the pleasure of hosting Jessica’s previous collection, Dancing With Colour, which was a huge success both with her core fans and those new to her work. Playtime continues Jessica’s themes of exploration, adventure, passion and uncompromising joy. These are canvases that jump, sing and fizz with excitement. It is as if she is reminding us that if ever there were a need to rediscover our sense of play, it is now.
Loughran Gallery looks forward to hosting its second solo show with Jessica Zoob and launching a fresh, new collection of exquisite works. Playtime sees Jessica play with colour and form, with the overall collection synchronising perfectly with Loughran Gallery’s belief of creating a warm, welcoming environment to enjoy contemporary art.

Jessica ZoobJessica Zoob trained at the Central School of Art and Nottingham University, during which time she travelled extensively, spending time on research in China and exploring other parts of Indonesia.
For seven years after graduating she worked as a theatre designer at countless venues including the Bristol Old Vic, the Royal National Theatre and Greenwich Theatre. Since 2000, Jessica has worked exclusively as a British contemporary artist from her Lewes home and studio, exhibiting around the world and regularly in London, with works in private collections worldwide.
Zoob has been the featured contemporary artist at London Design Week in London’s Chelsea Harbour and has also had major collections shown at Rove Gallery in Hoxton Square, The Great Room at 1508 London, NEO Bankside on the South Bank, Medici Gallery on Cork Street, as well as internationally in Cape Town, South Africa.
Jessica first exhibited with Loughran Gallery in 2013 with the gallery’s Summer Exhibition in Lancashire. The relationship quickly developed to create a major solo
show in September that year, with the launch of Jessica’s newest body of works Dancing With Colour. Held at the bespoke Albion Riverside development in Battersea, Jessica’s works enjoyed and reflected the bright, light scene of the Thames. Loughran Gallery has since included Jessica’s work in many group exhibitions across the UK, including ONE on the South Bank, Sprung in Chelsea, the Art Takeover residency at Muriel’s Kitchen and at Loughran Gallery’s first showing in Edinburgh on Queen Street.
Recent commissions include works for the entrances of The Lancaster’s Hyde Park, a palace in Dubai and at NEO Bankside. In 2013, Jessica also started a collaborative project with renowned textile company Romo and its Black Edition design house. The project has seen Jessica’s designs taken across the globe, with pattern Big Smile winning the Elle Decoration British Design Award for Best British Pattern in 2014.
Jessica’s travels to China, Indonesia and beyond are continual inspirations in her painting method, with the landscape surrounding her Sussex home acting as a constant muse.
Loughran Gallery From pop-up to permanent: having operated as a roaming London gallery with pop-up exhibitions throughout the year, Loughran Gallery has settled into a permanent home where it continues a rotating programme of exhibitions in the heart of Belgravia.
Loughran Gallery’s story began by exhibiting a vibrant collection of contemporary art in various eclectic locations across London; including a mews garage in Notting Hill, an old hat factory in Shoreditch, a popular restaurant in Soho and an award-winning development adjacent to Tate Modern.
After launching the gallery in Lancashire, the first exhibition Loughran Gallery held in the capital was in Notting Hill in December 2012. Featuring original contemporary works alongside limited edition prints by contemporary greats such as Tracey Emin and Dave White, Loughran Gallery introduced itself to London with style. Following shows included the Loughran Gallery Pop-Up in Shoreditch, #ArtTing at Boxpark, Dancing With Colour: A Jessica Zoob Solo Show in Battersea, Sold Out: A Dave White Retrospective in Haggerston, ONE at NEO
Bankside on the South Bank, Sprung on Tryon Street in Chelsea, the Art Takeover at Muriel’s Kitchen in Soho and Albion: An Exhibition by Dave White at Iris Studios.
With eleven successful shows since the gallery’s inception in 2012, Loughran Gallery’s mission is to bring the pop-up vibe to Motcomb Street with fresh exhibitions, cool events and fun collaborations, keeping the gallery’s simple ethos at the forefront: to provide a welcoming environment to find something you love.
Select artists include Chris Levine, Damien Hirst, Dave White, Douglas Kirkland, Harland Miller, Jessica Zoob, Marc Quinn, Nick Jeffrey and Terry O’Neill. Each individual piece of art in the gallery has been carefully chosen with the home in mind, designed to be enjoyed everyday and bring a smile to your face. Loughran Gallery’s shows are unintimidating, open to all and include some of the most desired and respected artists of today.
