In one village alone Didi Maa met 64 widows and several children. “ My heart went out to them and immediately I thought of opening a Vatsalya Gram Centre there itself”, she said. “ While rations were pouring in and another NGO was offering proposals for the re-marriage of the widows, no one was thinking of their rehabilitation”, she further said. This job was undertaken by Vatsalya Gram. The money came in; rations and volunteers were available aplenty.

In Ruderprayag district 2 Vatsalya Sewa Kendras have been established and 150 children have been admitted in these Kendras. Their lodging, boarding, education are all FREE at these Kendras. 70 children have been awarded scholarships; vocational training in sewing, knitting, etc. with sewing machines and other necessities have been provided at 10 centres in places like Barrasu, Rampur, Triyuginarayan. Employment to several persons has been provided at these centres. Additionally, more than 10 such centres are being planned.

As Didi Maa related these facts, donations started pouring in and a total sum of Rs. 6.81 lakh was collected. Following were the major donors:

Smt. Sandooran Kapur : Rs. 4.00 lakhs, Sh. & Smt. V.K. Malhotra: Rs. 1.00 lakh. S/Sh.Yogesh Marwaha, S.L. Malhotra, L.R. Uppal, Hari Om, K.K. Kaushal, Dr. Meena Thakur and Dr. Ranjeet Pa ra s h a r co nt r i b u te d R s . 12,000/- each. Shri K. L. Dhall donated Rs. 11,000/- and many others contributed varying amounts. Didi Maa was overwhelmed, indeed.

She thanked and blessed the donors who spared a thought for the unfortunate brethren who have lost everything in the natural calamity. She also thanked Bharat Vikas Parishad, B Block Jankpuri Branch for arranging such functions every year.

Earlier, Shri Jai Bhagwan, ex- MLA Delhi Assembly and General Secretary of the organization explained in detail the concept of Kamdhenu Gaugrih being run at the Vatsalyagram, Vrindavan.

Shri V.K. Malhotra, Secretary of the Branch who conducted the programme thanked all volunteers of the BVP as well the Mandir Committee for their help and cooperation for the success of the programme

Under , hearing aids were given to 6 needy persons. 540 note books and other stationery items were given to Ek Rahat, an NGO engaged in the replenishment of street children.

Five were organized in January, 2014 in which 50 persons were benefitted; 3 were counselled for de-addiction.

Learn from a Pencil

A pencil is not merely a pencil, but the process of using it

contains a few subtle lessons for all:

It has five qualities which, if followed properly, will make a

person be at peace with the world.

1. You are capable of great things, but you must never forget

that there is a hand guiding your steps.

2. Now and then, you have to stop writing and use a

sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but

afterwards, it's much sharper. So you, too, must learn to

bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make

you a better person.

3. While writing, we have to use an eraser to rub out any

mistakes. This means that correcting something helps to

keep us on the road to justice.

4. What really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior,

but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is

happening inside you.

5. The pencil always leaves a mark. Same way, you should

know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try

to be conscious of that in your every action.

No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it.-Andrew Carnegie

Page 7: SH. K.C. SUD EDITORIAL COMMITTEE - Bharat Vikas … jan-feb14.pdfEDITORIAL COMMITTEE B.L.Parashar D.N. Grover R. K. Aggarwal Smt. Shashi Azad M.K.Wadhwa K.B. Mahajan 9212964222 9818263671

The philosophy of Bharat Vikas Parishad rests on its 5 cardinal

principles viz. Sampark, Sahyog, Sewa, Sanskar and Samarpan.

While Sewa and Sanskar are most prominent, Sanskar occupies

the most predominant position as it is directed to the school

children who are our leaders of tomorrow.

The following 2 school-based activities are organized though out

the country during the months of September/October every

year.

1. Guru Vandan-Chhatra Abhinandan (GVCA):The primary

purpose of this programme is to strengthen in the minds of

children their love and respect for their parents and teachers.

The students pay respects to their teachers while the teachers

honour their loved students. This activity takes place in the

respective schools at the time of morning assembly. As a part of

this programme in which representatives of BVP articulate the

activities of BVP to the students and teachers, all of them are

administered an OATH ( in Hindi or English) reproduced below:

Promoting Oath And Patriotic Songs

2. National Group Song Competition/National Sanskrit Group

Song Competition (NGSC/NSGSC): These are two Group Song

Competitions in which school teams compete with their

counterparts in other neighbouring schools. The songs are

patriotic and are selected out of booklets published by BVP

CHETNA KE SWAR & RASHTRIYA SANGEETIKA.

As per the current practice the OATH is administered just once a

year only when the GVCA programme is organized. We feel that

is not enough. Repeated exposure to this oath should be in

place.

Promoting OATH & Patriotic Songs :

Similarly, songs included in the booklet Chetna Ke Swar are full

of love for the country. Only one of these songs is sung by a

group of 7-8 students once a year when they take part in the

NGSC competition. This is perhaps not enough.

Through this write up I request all Branches of our Prant as also

others to make the above 2 activities REGULAR and more

FREQUENT instead of being ANNUAL. For this, I as the Convener

of Sanskar of BVP, Delhi (South) requested all Branches to

impress upon the school authorities in their respective areas to:

• Include the text of OATH and at least ONE patriotic song from

Chetna Ke Swar in their school diaries which will remain with the

children for full ONE YEAR and they will be in touch with these

items;

• Administer the OATH to their children in the morning assembly

AT LEAST ONCE IN A WEEK,

• Similarly, they can request their learned Music Teacher to give

music to the song selected for the Diary, and the same song can

be sung in the morning assembly at least on a weekly basis. I had

even suggested the song Chandan hai….. for this purpose.

• While I have not received any information from other Branches

of our Prant, B Block Janakpuri Branch has taken the initiative

and I am told, that 4 schools in their area have already agreed to

adopt the OATH and ' Chandan hai….for their school diaries as

well as morning assemblies.

I congratulate the Executives of B Block Janakpuri Branch for

spreading this message to schools in their area. For school have

already agreed to the proposaI. I also request other Branches to

undertake to promote these 2 items among 'their' schools so

that the real purpose of BVP initiatives is achieved.

K.B. Mahajan,

Convener, Baal Sanskar, BVP, Delhi ( South)

The Oath

• I solemnly resolve that I will always pay due respects to my

parents, teachers, women and elders.

• I will discharge my duties and responsibilities keeping in mind the national culture, traditions, moral values and civil rights.

• I will neither smoke nor consume any narcotic products in any form.
