Our final Being 10 session for the year was held on Thursday, 6th of December 2018 with Homebush Public
School as part of the Year 6 transition activities. The girls were actively engaged with the activities that involved
lots of group discussions and hands on activities. Empowerment, self confidence and talks of their aspirations
and goals were discussed. The students enjoyed getting to know our SRC members and the types of activities we
have here at Strathfield Girls High School. We hope the girls left the session feeling inspired, empowered and
more confident. We hope to see many of them here next year!

On Monday 10th December to Wednesday 12th December Year 9 travelled
to Myuna Bay for their annual school camp. The students had the
opportunity to participate in a range of activities over the 3 days which
included Kayaking, Rock climbing, Archery, High Ropes, Flying Fox and
Challenge course. The entertainment continued into the night with
students taking part in a scavenger hunt challenge on night 1, which gave
them the opportunity to explore the flora and fauna around the camp
grounds. On night 2 students were divided into teams for quiz night which
had students up dancing, singing and completing individual challenges
including the vegemite challenge. Students also had the opportunity to
relax down by the pool after a busy day on activities. Overall, it was an
enjoyable 3 days and a great way to finish the year after all the hard work
students have put into this year.
Year 9 Camp
Year 8 at LUNA PARK (Maths Excursion)
On 3rd December, Japanese B class accompanied by Ms Fan had the
privilege to attend The Japan Foundation at Central Park Building.
We left school at 9:00am and travelled straight to The Japan
Foundation. From 10 to 12, we learnt about history and
contemporary use of Furoshiki, expressions and manners when
visiting Japanese homes and expressions for offering help.
There were a variety of items such as Manga, Japanese Artwork,
Videos, DVD etc on display.
At 12, we headed downstairs where we enjoyed lunch for around 40
minutes. Following this break, we went to Daiso Japan to buy some
Japanese items.
From around 1 pm, we walked to Matcha Ya to have some Japanese green tea dessert. We purchased Matcha ice-cream,
Matcha drinks and several more delicious items.
After dessert, we walked to Regents place and the Galleries building. We experienced some typical Japanese style vending
machines, Dorayaki (Japanese style pancake) shop, Izakaya restaurants, Uncle Tetsu cheese cake shop, book stores and
others. After a long but meaningful day, we walked back to school.
Overall, the entire day was a valuable and exciting experience. Not only did we all gain a deeper understanding of
Japanese culture, we all had a lot of fun!
