Apart from increasing its marketshares in the “Medium Heavy Du-ty” segment Dürkopp Adler wantsto further consolidate its positionon the sector of outer garments. Inthis connection the companycounts on a four-pillar model sup-ported by numerous product offen-sives. “In the field of piped pockets, eyelet buttonholes, sleeve settingand trousers production we disposeof a very good image”, says MarkusBachmann, Head of Product Ma-nagement of the sewing technolo-gy specialist in Bielefeld. “With ournew machines we will offer trend-setting solutions in these seg-ments.”

At the Texprocess Dürkopp Ad-ler will present a completely newsleeve setting solution, whichmakes the inserting of sleeves aseasy as never before combinedwith an extremely high seam qua-lity. An outstanding feature of thenew solution will be the innovati-ve design: machine arm, base pla-te and machine stand are madeall of one piece for the first time. For many years Dürkopp Adler

has been the market-leading pro-vider of eyelet buttonholers. Withthe revised machine class 580-141 a new benchmark is set, especially with regard to pro-ductivity and seam safety. By me-ans of technical upgrades andsoftware optimization the cycletimes could be further shorte-ned. As far as the sewing units for

piped pockets are concerned,Dürkopp Adler focuses on a har-monized platform with technicaloptimizations and a reduced va-riety of parts. Moreover, therewill be improved fully automaticcorner knife stations for slantedpockets. Another technical high-

light is the pressureless loweringof transport clamps. After the complete integration

of Beisler into Dürkopp Adler theposition of the brand has beenstrengthened. Beisler has alwaysbeen and will continue to be thebenchmark for the automatedproduction of trousers. A unit forpiped pockets with new cornerknife station and thread advan-cing device will be shown at theTexprocess. The four-pillar model will be a

central highlight on the DürkoppAdler booth at the Texprocess. The product innovations will beof special interest to the produ-cers of high-quality applications.„In this interesting market Dür-kopp Adler has been playing aleading role for decades“, knowsMarkus Bachmann. „The new

models will continue this traditi-on. Our customers have high de-mands on technology and quali-ty. Dürkopp Adler has always

been and still is the manufacturerof sewing technology being ableto realize these two attributesperfectly.“

„We need new impetus“

Friedbert Schulz, Head of Marketing of Dürkopp Adler AG, about the expectations of the

company with regard to the new leading trade fair Texprocess

Why does Dürkopp Adler par-ticipate in the Texprocess?

Dürkopp Adler is one of thekey drivers behind a change fromthe IMB to the Texprocess. Withmany well-known names of ourtrade we shared the view that thetime has come to give new impe-tus to the world’s leading clot-hing machine fair. Now as ever, most of the new technologies ofour industry are developed inEurope. A good reason for a lea-

ding fair with a new location, anew orientation and a new con-cept of communication. Thus, the manufacturers of

clothing machines involved takethe initiative for the continuedexistence of the fair beyond thenext years. With respect to the

approx. 1,200 employees in ourEuropean factories we also try tofulfil our responsibility to safe-guard these jobs together withtheir infrastructure.

What does DA expect from theTexprocess? On the basis of the combinati-

on with the Techtextil we hope torealize a better quality of infor-mation, especially for potentialvisitors from overseas markets. The very comprehensive range ofproducts exhibited makes thefair considerably more interes-ting for international guests. Thelast Techtextil two years ago wasalready attended by around12,700 visitors. We assume thatboth events will mutually profitfrom rising numbers of visitors. All renowned manufacturers ofthe trade will be present as exhi-bitors. They all know about theimportance of the change fromthe IMB to the Texprocess and in-vite their customers directly tothe new fair. In our opinion thiswill have a further positive influ-ence on the number of guests. And just for these visitors – ourcustomers – the event is finallymade.

Which target groups do you in-tend to contact there? For a long time Dürkopp Adler

has been demonstrating a clearcommitment towards two maintarget groups. And things did

not change even during the cri-sis. Just like a human beingstands more safely on two legswe will continue to rely on vario-us target markets. In the apparelindustry the brand Dürkopp Ad-ler is associated with high-quali-ty clothing. This is supported byBeisler as a specialist for auto-mated production of trousers,by the way located in prominentposition on our booth. Moreo-ver, we are, of course, known asthe supplier as such of innovati-ve sewing technology in theupholstery and automotive in-dustry. And not to forget the factthat we are supplier for deman-ding shoe producers, too. Manymanufacturers consider us as“the producer” of high-qualitymachines “made in Europe” alsoin this field.

Dürkopp Adler has chosen thetrade fair motto „Meet YourFriends“. How did you get theidea? A trade fair motto should un-

derline the self-image of an en-terprise. Any artificial marketingslogan will unmask itself soon. For many years the maxim of Dür-kopp Adler has been “We care”because we regard ourselves aspartners and friends of our cus-tomers. In this spirit we want towelcome our friends in Frankfurt.Let us look ahead again after the-se difficult economic times. Joinus and meet your friends.

At the Texprocess Dürkopp Ad-ler will present numerous machi-nes for clothing applications. Do-es the company concentrate onthe segment „Apparel“ again?During the last years the M-Ty-

pe has perhaps been in the focus

of attention. But nevertheless therewas a rather higher tendency to in-crease the expenditure in favour ofthe development of clothing machi-nes. Now we can show part of thefruits of our work. We are truly pro-ud on this and we will demonstrateit on a prominent position at the Tex-process.

You talk about a great successwith the M-Type. How important isthe segment “Medium Heavy Duty”for Dürkopp Adler?I would like to say with a twinkle

in my eye: „Success is addictive; sowe want still more“. But seriously,we know we are not alone in themarket and arrogance is the lastthing we want to embody. Just like

there are fashion trendsetters, the-re are also technical trendsetters.

During recent years this positionwas held by us and we want it tostay that way. Our chairman of theboard Werner Heer would answernow: “Where we are is the front.”There is no stagnation; others willcome and make use of our ideas. Itis always easier to imitate some-thing already existing than to inventsomething new. We will not disap-point our customers even in this

segment. Dürkopp Adler has alwaysbeen good for a surprise, and the

best ideas are those nobody will ex-pect. Just as our saying goes: “Wecare”.

You have extended the productmarketing. Which objectives do youwant to achieve by this measure? The future of an enterprise is de-

cided via its products. No doubt, pri-cing, sales structure and marketingactivities are significantly involved

in the success of a company, too,but without market-oriented pro-ducts all these measures will be invain. The importance of a solid andprecise product planning should ne-ver be underestimated. That’s whywe attach special value to a productmarketing in close coordinationwith the target markets. In order tobe able to comply with this forward-looking task even better we havepositioned our team more widely, last not least in view of the long-standing partnership with our exter-nal distributors. We want them tobe successful with our products.Only then we can be successful inthe long run as well.

Has Dürkopp Adler been able todraw strength from the crisis?Like many other enterprises also

Dürkopp Adler has suffered a lotfrom the world economic crisis. Butapart from all that saving and de-spite being forced to adapt oursel-ves to the changed conditions wehave always been looking ahead.Backed by our shareholders wemanaged to keep the developmenton a level which allows us to getstarted again with new strength. Aproduction structure with locationsin Germany, the Czech Republicand Romania makes it possible tooffer high technology at fair prices. As far as standard machines areconcerned, our future productionjoint venture in China will be a realsupport to us as of the third quar-ter of 2011, especially in Asia.

„Success is addictive; so we want still more ““
