    Right through the night of the cloudburst till date swayamsevaks have been on the job. As TarunVijayjis article quotes the News reached the OTC camp at about 12:30 am midnight and in hours

    swayamsevaks reached the place. The Chogalmasar is the place where the ITBP battalions and their

    families are based most the jawans lost someone or the other from their family.

    Swayamsevaks could get down and bring out carefully some of the diseased from under the mud.

    6th Aug: 11 bodies brought out and survivors saved and reached them to safe places. The dist Hospitalevacuated and the patients as well as medicines and material safely placed.

    7th Aug: Chagalmasar has the RSS run Bharati Vidya mandir which has now been turned into a reliefcamp. Flood victims from in and around were provided food, water and medicines at the camp. The

    swayamsevaks ventured in to chest deep slush and mud to save people

    9th Aug: A review and organising meet held at ladakh kalyan sangh office attended by all the organs of

    the sangh pariwar. A team of RSS, rashtra sevika samiti and Sewa bharathi and Ladakh kalyan sangh

    set up to steer through the difficult situation.

    Brigadier S Datta, Colonol Anurag khanna led team provided food and medicines and were asked to

    co-ordinate related efforts of distribution. According to the directions and co-ordination of the IndianArmy the team is operating from the Army Hospital. 90 Flood victims were given food and new

    clothes.

    10th Aug: Sabu village was surveyed and a complete survey report prepared also a new relief camp was

    setup at the Old bus stand.

    11th Aug: After a meeting with the Divisional commisioner Leh it was decided to adopt a few villages

    and build spacious sheds to accomodate the victims and save them from the upcomming winter cold.

    12th Aug: The Swayamsevak team reaches Igu village where the devastation is widespread, 50 housesdevastated. Near by Naa, Shaa, Basgoumla, tharu villages also surveyed and report submitted. Relief

    activities started immediately and Food and water were provided in the first phase.

    Sewa bharathi Jammu and kashmir is taking care of 20 seriously affected patients and transferred to

    jammu from Leh for their treatment. The most affected are the migrant labourers who now are fearing

    and almost ready to leave any moment. They had to be counselled to stay and food and clothes as wellas treatment made available.
