Spanish 1A is the first half of an entry-level high school foreign language course that explores the Spanish language through verbal exchange, grammar and written communication, geography and culture. Students will begin a journey towards developing a second language by learning the four major elements of mastery: oral proficiency, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and writing. The course presents a more complex and intricate structure and awareness of the grammatical language through extensive vocabulary acquisition and comprehension of the basic parts of speech with pronunciation. The understanding and appreciation of the Spanish culture, through its historical context and diversity, will further enrich the student’s enjoyment of the language.
