Located along the tranquil and tree-lined shores of Week’s Bay, Beckwith Camp and Conference Center is often described as a welcome escape - a place to retreat from the hustle of cities and urban locations and commune with nature.

Though only a short drive from Fairhope or Mobile, Beckwith imparts a tranquil setting to learn and relax among the 82-acres filled with centuries’ old live oaks and stately pines. Evening strolls along the shoreline provide beautiful views of sunrises filled with hues of yellows, oranges, and pinks combined with

the gently lapping of waves against the shore. A favorite past time at Beckwith for Road Scholars is evening gatherings on the porch in rocking chairs for fellowship.

Dean Mosher, one of our most popular instructors for USA Road Scholar, has been very busy over the last year. Mosher is known for his historic paintings, which are located in museums, National Park Service visitor centers, and public buildings around the country.

In March 2013, Mosher’s 42-foot high sculpture Nature’s Playground was dedicated in the new town center of Gautier, Mississippi. It is the tallest sculpture on the Gulf Coast. Mosher’s eight-foot-by-10-foot painting Wilbur Wright Greets Lady Liberty was placed on permanent exhibition in the Early Flight Gallery of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Mueseum in Washington, D.C. in August of that same year.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Mobile Bay, Mosher unveiled his third painting in the series depicting the famous naval battle of the Civil War. You have the opportunity to hear this favorite instructor during programs #9237 and #14414.
