Allyson Childress, RYT 500—Described most acutely by a close friend as being an individual,Allyson is a crea- tive spirit, an artist, adventurer, yoga teacher and lover of life! She has been building her personal yoga practice both on and off the mat since 2005 after taking her first yoga class in the community basketball court at the local high school. Her downward dogs have taken her to Thailand, Kuwait, California and most recently to India, where she spent five months completing her yoga teacher 500 RYT training in recognition with Yoga Alliance. While in In- dia, Allyson trained in Ashtanga and Hatha styles of yoga, led workshops on yoga nidra and creativity + yoga, of- fered sunrise and sunset yoga classes to her fellow teacher trainees, indulged in chapatis (an Indian cuisine staple), and drank more than her fair share of mint tea. She holds a Bachelors degree in Studio Art with a focus in Ceram- ics / Installation Art. She studied Exercise, Sport, Health and Education in college. After grad- uation she found that she was searching for additional skills and information to help her clients. She found Pilates was applicable to a wide range of clients, pre and post injury, post natal, general strength, breath work and posture. Jaclyn dove into practice. She was trained in mat and reformer through STOTT Pilates in 2008. The mind body prac- tice led Jaclyn to study yoga as well. She completed RYT 200 in 2012. In 2016 Jaclyn was accepted into the Balanced Body Pilates Master teacher training program. Ginger Houck, PT—The Ginge is a retired physical therapist with more than 29 years of experience. She’s been practicing yoga for about 10 years and leading workshops with Susan Johnson at InsideOut Yoga for almost two. Her other interests include volunteering at Camp Kekoka, jewelry making, biking, gardening, reading, cooking and rescue animals. She lives in Fredericksburg and Lancaster with her dog, Gabby, and her husband, Mick, in that order.

Jenny Landry (E-RYT 200, CPT) Jenny began practicing in 1998 and quickly became devoted to yoga for its phys-ical, meditative and spiritual benefits. Eventually seeking a more fluid and athletic challenge, she moved into power yoga and completed a Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher Training in 2004. In 2011, she completed her 200 hour teacher training at Chesapeake Hot Yoga and now owns Serenity Yoga in Lancaster where she offers a variety of classes, and private instruction. She and Kathleen Litos also offer 200 hour Teacher Training with a new session beginning this fall. Susan Johnson, E-RYT 200, YACEP—Susan is the owner of InsideOut Yoga in White Stone and leads public & pri-vate classes, workshops and retreats. Her RYT training in 2008 with Ashtanga and Iyengar instructors, Jennifer Elliot and Sandra Pleasants, reinforced her love of creative movement and optimal alignment—a love that continues to inform her practice and teaching to this day. Atma Kaur Khalsa (B.S., Biology), has been enjoying teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, since 1977, and has practiced yoga since she was 10 years old (1970). Wyatt Portz, RYT 200—Meditation has been a regular part of Wyatt’s life since the late 1960s, and his Hatha Yoga practice started soon after. Under the instruction of Iffet Padmaakshi Cochran, he graduated from the Karuna Yoga program offered through 4025 Yoga and Wellness in Richmond. His main interest is encouraging people to develop their yoga practice to include pranayama and meditation, which can help anyone overcome anxiety, re-sentment, anger, grief, and mental attachments by increasing energy, awareness, and allowing a direct perception of the wholeness of life.

Ginger Platsis, CMT—Ginger is the owner of Heart Felt Touch Massage Therapy in Gloucester and began her career in 2003. She stays continually intrigued by the human body and its vast dynamics. Ginger has trained in various forms of massage therapy and most recently, TRE®.

Lena Okun, RYT 200—Lena found yoga seven years ago and fell in love with the way she felt after class. Initially she was inspired by the freedom and sense of ease she felt in her body after a regular practice but soon found the benefits extended beyond the physical. Three years ago she received her 200-hr RYT certification in Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga at the Dharma Connection in Sandwich Massachusetts with Donna Pagliarani. Lena's yoga classes are in-spired by Prana Flow from her yoga teacher training and most recently studying online with Jason Crandall. She is also inspired by the readings of Thich Nhat Hanh. Her classes are aimed at stilling the mind by anchoring aware-ness using rhythmic movement and sensations of the body connected to the breath. She lives in Weems with her husband and three children and works as an RN.

Anna Pomaska, RYT 200—Anna has been teaching locally since 2007. She began her spiritual movement quest in the early 70’s with the Dances of Universal Peace and the Sufi Master, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. She has attended retreats involving meditation and Kriya Breath practices as taught by the Art of Living Organization and had been inspired by her month of Living Yoga Training in Yogaville, VA. Anna currently teaches both Hatha and Chair Yoga classes through her own Moving Breath Yoga located in the historic Woman’s Club in Urbanna and at the YMCA in Hartfield. Recently Anna has been especially interested in the therapeutic and transformative aspect of yoga as taught in the Viniyoga tradition with the understanding that yoga can go beyond the physical side of our being and unleash our spiritual potential.

Kathleen Litos E-RYT 500—After 10 years of practice, Kathleen became a yoga instructor in 2008 through Glenmore Yoga. She has enjoyed many teachers on her journey, receiving 500 hours under the tutelage of Roger Cole, John Schumacher, Desiree Rumbaugh and Sharon Salzburg and master classes under Ana Forrest. Kathleen offers group and private lessons in Callao, Heathsville, Kilmarnock and Lancaster. Her classes maximize each stu-dent’s mental and physical benefits, using postures and conscious breathing in combination with mental focus to de-velop awareness, strength and flexibility, and relaxation. Her goal is to inform, inspire, and explain the yoga asanas, pranayama and yogic principles. Joe Miller has been studying and teaching Martial Arts since 1984. Years ago he shifted from the hard styles to the internal arts of Tai Chi, Hsing-i and Pa Gua. This changed the focus to the healing and health benefits of the movements.

Sarah Rae, RYT 200—Sarah is the Member Services & Administrative Coordinator at the Middlesex Family YMCA, where she also teaches Group Cycling, Pilates, and Yoga. She has been a student of Yoga since 2010, after a back injury compromised her passion for running and other active life pursuits. She became a certified Group Cycling instructor in 2013, Pilates instructor in 2015, and completed her RYT 200 Yoga training in June 2017. Brenda Sylvia (Silver Raven)—Silver Raven is a fire dancer who splits time between her homes in St. Thomas iin the US Virgin Islands and Reedville. Dancing for Flights of Fire, she has performed over 300 shows in the Carib-bean and has had a weekly show at the Marriott Frenchman’s Cove on St. Thomas for the past four years. David Scarbrough, PhD, RYT 200—David graduated from teacher training at the Satchidananda Ashram (Yogaville) in 1991 and has been teaching yoga in the Northern Neck ever since.
