ASSINGMENT 3OBSERVATION

We visit our school cafeteria. We observed for 30 minutes the kids that were having lunch. Some were sitting in groups of three to six people. The kids around 14 years old were texting with their smart phones. Some of them arrived to the group just to show to the rest the texts they received. The kids around 10 years old came in by groups of three to four to buy their lunch. They just buy and went out. They were embarrassed by the older kids. We observed that there was interaction between the same age groups. Sometimes this behavior happened with siblings. The 7 to 9 children were following a certain social pattern. Girls sitting with girls. Boys sitting with boys. This pattern didn´t occur with the children of other ages.

FINDINGS

Our findings were that gender it’s a factor that influence the level of anxiety. Women tend to react more stressful, or to feel more anxious about it than men.

ASSINGMENT 5RAISIN REACTION

How do the raisins react? First they all went to the bottom of the glass, as soon as they got surrounded by bubbles produce by the gas they float. Once the bubbles popped, they start to elevate to the surface; creating a cycle. These raisins were spinning to start the cycle again.

Page 9: SESSION 1 Ana Laura Fuentes Hamelius Diana Luz Paredes Treviño Gabriela Saldaña Gómez.

Why do you think the raisin react the way they do? The bubbles made them float. When bubbles popped raisins sinks again. The amount of gas determine if the raisin floats or sinks.

HYPOTHESIS When the gas surrounds

the raisin, it makes them lighter and as a result it floats.

EXPERIMENT

Beans and little pieces of apple were exposed to the same conditions as raisins. Using same sizes, we recreate the conditions. The beans react the same way as the raisins. The apple pieces react differently, maybe because of the different texture, they stay floating at the surface. Gas bubbles surround the apple but they didn’t sink.
