For some, it was their first gala and the first time to use starting blocks! Against strong opposition, SES just missed out on qualifying for the B League Finals and will now compete in the C League Final instead, an event which SES won last year.
The final standings were:
1st – DESS2nd – Repton3rd – DBS4th – DIS5th – SES6th – EISJ
The C League Final has been scheduled for the 17th November. Thank you to the staff and parents for your support at the gala.
Sharjah U15 NetballA fresh and energetic U15 SES team won their opening game of the season by eighteen goals to nil against the International School of Chouiefat! This represents one of our biggest ever margins of victory!
Both teams fought tirelessly to maintain possession but it was SES who took the lead early on in the first quarter and then pulled away from the opposition with a torrent of great goals. It was a brilliant performance by SES, who are now looking forward to their second match with confidence.
ClubsThe Sharjah Schools’ Netball and Football Leagues are well under way. SES has entered four age groups in each, U11, U13, U15 and U18.
All teams are training once per week whilst playing their league fixtures in and around Sharjah.
The U14, U16 and U18 rugby teams are currently preparing for the season, starting in January. Fitness and skills development are the main areas of focus for the pre-season training. All squads are hoping to have early friendlies, including some rugby 7s matches.

KS 4 CurriculumYear 10
All Year 10 students have opted to do the Junior Sports Leaders Award (JSLA L1). In this programme students are taught the skills to lead small groups of children and organise a mini-sports festival. This year basketball is the sport.
Skills such as organisation, communication, leadership and planning enable the Year 10 students to lead an effective and enjoyable session followed by an inter-house basketball tournament.
Students will be leading a range of year groups throughout the year, starting with Year 4 and Year 5.
Year 11
Some students have chosen to undertake the Football Association Junior Sports Leaders Award. Many of the students have already gained the JSLA Level 1 which the current Year 10 is studying. This FA accredited qualification provides students with the specific knowledge and skills to work with children aged 6+. The course develops the ability to plan and deliver safe, fun, progressive practices and mini-soccer games.
The football leaders will be coaching the Year 6 students followed by an inter-house football tournament as part of their assessment.
Cheerleading The Years 10 and 11 girls have been very busy in PE creating cheerleading routines. The girls, who were all new to cheerleading in September, have taken on the challenge and developed some amazing balances and routines. The girls have really enjoyed this new, exciting opportunity and let’s hope they continue to have fun as they develop their skills.

Sharjah English School vs Choueifat -‐ 1 – 3With one game under their belts the SES boys were now star6ng to look more like a team going into a game against a school with a strong footballing reputa6on. The boys conducted their own warm up under the leadership of Arran (C).
The visi6ng team started very quickly and immediately pressured each SES player in possession. Within minutes they broke through and put the ball past Vidant in goal. 1-‐0 Choueifat. However, the SES boys showed brilliant resilience and courage and did not give their opponents an inch on the ball. Con6nual pressure and determina6on from Edward, Arran and Mikolay proved to be a turning point in the game. A spark of brilliance from Mikolay brought the equalising goal, picking the ball up in midfield, running down the side line and cuKng into the box to slot the ball into the net from an almost impossible angle.
The remainder of the game proved to be a baMle, with each player giving his all. Choueifat had the best of the chances, tes6ng Vidant in goal on a number of occasions. However, Vidant proved to have a safe pair of hands and responded well to some tes6ng shots. As the game con6nued, a lapse of concentra6on in the back four allowed the visitors to break through on goal and bring the game to 2-‐1 in favour of Choueifat. This proved to be a decisive moment, with SES looking disheartened and their opponents going for more goals. The visitors con6nued to apply pressure and did not allow SES to mount a comeback, the game ending 3-‐1 to Choueifat.
Man of the Match – Edward – A determined and hard fought game in midfield, where he showed strength, control and good judgment.
Under 13s Football FixturesSharjah English School vs Victoria Interna6onal School 2 – 4
The under 13s played their first game together against a well organised and skilful VIS team. The boys were excited and prepared for the challenge aTer a number of aTer school training sessions where the whole squad con6nued to show excellent commitment.
SES took the lead shortly aTer kick off through a great finish from their striker Mikolay. However, VIS were undeterred and con6nued to pressure the newly formed back four of SES and eventually broke through to slot the ball past Tony (c) between the posts. Mikolay con6nued to cause havoc for the defenders of VIS. Great support from Arran and Mustafa in midfield resulted in a superb top corner finish just before the half 6me whistle, to bring the score to 2-‐1 in favour of SES.
VIS were a new team coming out in the second half and proved to be extremely determined and well organised, par6cularly going forward. SES were put under constant pressure when in possession and this took its toll, with mistakes star6ng to work their way into the SES team in key areas. The result ended up 4-‐2 to VIS.
Man of the Match – Hamza – he showed excellent work rate in defence and made some key tackles.

Sharjah U15 football team struggled to find the form that beat VISS in their first league game. They lost the game 7-0 to International School of Chouifat on their home turf. SES had plenty of opportunities to score after half time but the Chouifat defence made it difficult for the home team to break through and score. Man of the match for SES was captain, Kris Bailey, who worked tirelessly to win back the ball to mount several counter attacks. The next game sees SES travel to AUS in what will certainly be another difficult game.
Sharjah Football LeagueU18 – SES 0 – 1 VISS
A fresh U18 SES team narrowly lost by a goal to nil in their opening game of the season. Both teams, evenly matched, fought tirelessly to maintain possession but it was VISS who took the lead in the second half. It was a much improved performance by SES, who are now looking forward to their second match against equally tough opponents, AUS.
U15 – SES 8 – 1 VISS
SES hosted Victoria International School of Sharjah (VISS) in their first league match of the season. From the start SES pressurized the opponents well and played a well structured game. Man of the Match, Saalem Mohammed-Saleem, scored 4 goals with captain, Kris Bailey, Cian Sidey, Vincent Meehan and Patrick Smith scoring one each. VISS got a consolation goal midway through the second half when there was a slight confusion in the SES defence and the ball ended up in their own goal. Nevertheless, an excellent start to the season.
