Welcome and Proclamation of the Good News

Prelude: To God Be the Glory Mark Hayes

* Call To Worship On this new morning and in every moment of our lives, gracious God,

from generation to generation, we praise your holy name. Like our ancestors before us, we proclaim your greatness to our Children,

for we have seen your deeds of power and witnessed your goodness in our lives.

As you have opened your hand to all, satisfying the desire of every living thing, open our hearts so that we might share the gifts we have received from you. Let us worship God in gratitude and joy!

* Hymn #429 vs. 1 & 2: Lord, You Give the Great Commission

Call to Confession:Although God has given the church the message of reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ, we fall short of God’s call to be salt of the earth and light of the world:

Prayer of Confession Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed;

Respond to God’s Word

* Hymn #465: Here, O Lord, Your Servants Gather

*Affirmation of Faith:It is through Christ’s reconciling work that we are the church, united to God and to other believers. As the church, we are the salt of the earth. We are the light of the world. We are entrusted with the message of reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ. As the church, we are witnesses by both word and deed. We proclaim the new heaven and the new earth, in which righteousness dwells. As the church, we proclaim that God’s life-giving Word and Spirit has conquered sin and death. God conquers irreconcilation, hatred and bitterness. As the church, God’s life-giving Word and Spirit enable us to live in a new obedience, God opens new possibilities of life for society and the world. We declare ourselves ready to venture out on the road of obedience and reconciliation-- servants of the God who wishes to bring about justice and true peace among people. 2

College ConnectionEvery Spring we sent our college students an envelope of notes written by our congregation. With all colleges going to online classes, we would still like to support our college students with notes on encouragement and love. If you would like to send a note by email, please send to [email protected]. Specify which student it is for in the subject line and I will print out and put it in their envelope. We will mail out envelopes by the end of the month. Below is a list of our college students:

Kyle Barker, Jonah Ewing, Avery Fehrenbach, Michael Fehrenbach, Jack Hayes, Josh Hill, Cole Kinser, Katie Kinser, Matthew LeCras, Holt McNeer, Sarah McNeer, Peyton Mills, Zeb Mills, Lexy Nelson, Tori Nelson, Emma Niehaus, Kevin Peischl, Rachel Perkins, Bradlee Saterfield, Ben Schnetzer, Abby Sherrard, and Max Stainton.

Coloring A Brighter Future

Today we start Week #2 of our Back-To-School Drive for school supplies for inner city kids. Nothing captures the excitement of a new school year like a new box of crayons – your own box of 24 colors to create something beautiful and explore the reach of your imagination.

This is Year 14 for the Back-To-School drive in HPC’s long-running partnership with Carmel Presbyterian Church in Avondale. We have provided a brighter start for 5,000 kids to date with essential school supplies - crayons, pencils, paper, erasers, scissors, glue and folders – that the school doesn’t provide and inner city parents can’t afford.

This year is a reach, with kids and parents eager for school to start, but jobs and resources reduced. Need is greater, while our giving is challenged by self-quarantine and other calls for donations.

We are surprised every year by the generosity of Heritage members. Please, give what you can by buying school supplies while shopping. Or send a check and let our team do the shopping. Mark checks on the designation line for “Mission Committee/School Supplies.”

The drive will run through Sunday, August. 2.

“FOR NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD” Luke 1:37The world is changing daily, yet God continues to be in our midst, and Jesus has given

us a mission to complete! Gather your family, save Wednesday nights this summer, and be on the lookout for MISSION POSSIBLE.

WHERE: Outside in the HPC Parking Lot (Rain? In the gym)

WHAT TO BRING: A suggested donation of Size 6 diapers WHY: To be in community with our neighbors, in a safe manner. To provide love, care and resources to neighbors in need. To have safe fun together, after a long season of quarantine.

Our Daily Bread Needs Sandwiches

We have long supported Our Daily Bread in Cincinnati which serves a noontime meal to the hungry. They are no longer serving inside by giving out bag lunches. Since the start of the pandemic their demand has doubled. We have been asked to help provide sandwiches. We collect them Wednesday before 6 pm and deliver them Thursday morning.

If you can help with 8 simple sandwiches (bread, cheese and meat or PB & J each marked) contact Nelson Kennedy and he’ll put you down for a week (513-470-1279).
