This Handbook provides information on the services provided by the Registration Office. To inform the students who ask for the service of Registration Office recognizing about the procedures and methods so as to quickly receive service.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF REGISTRATION OFFICEOF REGISTRATION OFFICE
Registration Office, Chiang Mai University, was established on June 10, 1989.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
1964 - Sub division under the General Affair Division, the President Office
1966 - An Academic Service Division under the President Office
1986 - Registration Office Establishment Project
1987 - Launched the Registration Office Establishment Project
1989 - Registration Office was approved in the gazette page 9 No.106 Section
no. 93 on June 9, 1989
1995 - Chiang Mai University’s sectors of responsibility were divided according
to the University Administration announcement (No.3) of 1995, which
established the Computer Science Department within the Faculty of
Engineering, and divided sectors of responsibility in the Registration
Office. The Secretariat of the Cabinet also announced this in the gazette
No.112, special section 50 D, on December 29, 1995. There were 7
divisions.

PRESENT SITUATION
Registration Office, Chiang Mai University was designated as one of the
responsible sectors and launched in the gazette No.125 special section 112 D on July 4,
2008, as announced in a Chiang Mai University announcement. There are 7 sections in

considered for enrollment.

Inquiries on qualifications, documents and conditions regarding study for a second degree.
Application procedure:
1. Submit a second degree request form to Liaison Service and
Admissions not less than 45 days before the new academic year.

To request a new student ID card:
1. Fill out a request form
2. In case of a student ID card being lost or not returned by an ATM, a
police notification is required. In case a student ID card is expired,
damaged, or requires change in details, such card must be submitted.
3. Submit a request form and a police notification or the existing student ID card to the Registration Counter Service staff person
4. The staff person will sign and stamp the form with a university logo.
5. Take the form to a Siam Commercial Bank for the issuance of a new student ID card at the SCB, Faculty of Medicine branch, Chiang Mai University and Chiang Mai University branch.

Course units transferred from Chiang Mai University enable Chiang Mai
undergraduate students who have left CMU to re-enroll and transfer back course
units taken within 5 years, according to the guidelines of the respective faculties,
departments or specialization streams. The transferred grades are recorded in “CX”.

3. APPLYING FOR A STUDENT’S DEGREE AND
POST GRADUATE SERVICES

For a student to receive their degree, they must carefully follow the procedures.
1. Fill out the information about expectation to graduate via the Internet
at www3.reg.cmu.ac.th/reg-expect on the specified date and check the
correction of the data.
2. Present the completed graduation form for fee payment. For
undergraduate students, please contact the Siam commercial Bank
(SCB). For graduate students, please contact at the cashier of the
Registration Office.
3. Present the completed graduation form and receipt to take a photo at
the Registration Office.
4. To complete the process for claiming degrees, a student should inform
the Registration Office, Academic Affairs Service Sector at the faculty
and advisor within the set dates and time given by the Registration
Office.
5. Any student who claims the degree but cannot graduate, must repeat
this procedure in the semester expecting to graduate. Processing fees
are charged only for the certificate of academic achievement and
transcript.
6. Dress code for computer photo taking
6.1 For undergraduate students should wear the student uniform, no
hat, no glasses and no ornaments any kind. Neat hairstyle that
does not cover the eyes. No highlights or coloring. Male students
are not allowed to have long hair.
6.2 For graduate students should wear a suit or solid color shirt of any
color expect white and wear no ornaments or glasses.
7. Fees for the graduation
7.1 Degree registration fee, 1,500 Baht (no recharge for the students
who have filed for the expectation and paid for it before)
7.2 Certificate of academic achievement and official transcript (to be sent by post)
(1 set = 100 Bath, 2 sets = 160 Bath, 3 sets = 220 Bath)
7.3 The faculty that has to request for a license for medical practice required 3 sets of the certificate of academic achievement.

8. Students expecting to graduate for undergraduate level (student code
50…onward) who have P, I grades on records and/or not registered for
courses in semester they expect to graduate, have to enroll for
university services.
9. Graduation Approval for undergraduate level by University Council
three times per year: the end of first semester, the end of second
semester and the end of summer session.
10. A commencement ceremony is held once a year, normally during the
month of January. The graduate will be informed of the exact date by
post mail and online at Registration Office website.

check the course units. If everything is approved, they can apply for
degrees conferment.

92 (request for graduation and degree form)
2.1. Check the course units according to the curriculum structure.
2.2. Minor subject selection must conform to university announcement
in each academic year.
2.3. Check requirements for curriculum completion in each academic

1. Students who expect to complete their studies and who graduate
according to the consent of the Graduate School Committee must be
approved by the Chamber of University Academic Council, thus,
considered as complete graduates.
2. The Degree Conferment and Certification Section will issue a certificate
of graduation and a transcript for graduates who are approved by the
Academic Council and whose information is correct and complete,
within three weeks.
3. Students can check the graduation at
www.reg.cmu.ac.th/graduate/new/graduate.php
3.4 REGISTRATION FOR DEGREE CONFERMENT

Graduates who purpose to participate in the graduation ceremony, the
schedule for degree registration at Registration Office will be specified by
Chiang Mai University.
1. Check the graduate’s name on the list of each respective faculty at
www3.reg.cmu.ac.th/reg-diploma
2. Sign on by username which is the student code and password which is
the Citizen ID number or Passport number of the graduates
3. Print out the confirmation document.
4. Present the official Citizen ID or Government ID and confirmation for
barcode scan.

5. Sign your name for confirmation.
6. Barcode scan of the document.
7. Return the confirmation document.
8. Receive the ceremony agenda, invitation card and academic pin.
Intention for not-attending the commencement:
1. Received in person: pick up diploma at Degree Conferment and
Certification Section of the Registration Office.
2. Received by representative: enclose copies of both the representative’s
and graduate’s ID cards with authorizing signature.
3. Registered Mail: Fill out for mailing address at
www3.reg.cmu.ac.th/reg-diploma. Payment fee 100 Bath. via the
counter of the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB).
4. For international graduates can pick up at the Registration Office or
respective faculty.
