The vessel has been attended by Undersigned, while she was at Shuaiba Port / KUWAIT, 3rd of February 2016 in order to carry out on board repairs.

Planned works have been carried out using also assistance of the crewmember.

No: 1, 2 and 3 Auxiliary Engine (MAN 6L16/24) Overhauls for MK II Upgrades

No: 1, 2 and 3 Aux. Engine had been overhauled by DCS teams for MK II Upgrades

All works had been carried out during vessel voyages between Mina Saqr/UAE & Shuaiba/KUWAIT.

Aux. engine cylinder units including cover, cylinder liner, piston & con-rods removed and shifted to upper deck for return back.

AE carter, camshaft housing and all cylinder blocks had been cleaned and both engines made ready for installation of new cylinder units.

8 set of main & thrust bearing renewed, measurement has been carried out and found in good order for each aux. engine.

Camshaft sections replaced, crank pin journal measurement has been carried out, found in good order.

All fuel pumps opened for inspection, replaced all wear parts, timing check carried out and found in good order.

Turbocharger cartridges removed and sent to workshop for overhauling, casing cleaned, cartridge refitted back after overhauls.

Air coolers opened, chemical cleaning has been carried out, pressure test done, no leakage noted.

HT and LT pumps removed, overhauled in ships workshop and mounted on engine.

New cylinder units installed on aux engine, aux engine run idle and tested with 400 kw and found in good order.

Deflections checked and found in good order, Aux engines put into service satisfactorily.

Turbocharger wet and dry cleaning tools fittings modified, cleaning tools tested by vessel crew and found in good order.

New safety duplex filters installed, pipe lines modified and some of inlet/outlet side valves replaced with new ones.

New 10/5 micron auto shock filter for aux engine in view fuel line upgrade installed, fuel inlet/outlet, tracing/steam and air pipe lines fitted, new insulation on fuel lines fitted by subcontractor. Switchboard for filter fitted and system tested and found in good order.

No: 1 Auxilary Engine (MAN 6L16/24) Crankshaft Replacement

No:1 Aux Engine crankshaft pins found 0,20 undersize, reported to Owners and as per their instruction tried to put this engine into service via polishing crankpin and using old bearings.

Aux engine started with 400 RPM and tested, found in good order. Increased RPM to 1000 RPM without any load, after running 10 minutes opened carter covers to inspect bearings; oil filter found dirty, all bearings opened for inspection; No:2,3 and 4 connecting rod bearings found damaged.

Commenced polishing of those pins, connected with new bearings and engine tested, observed that bearings started to damage.

As per Owners decision, a new crankshaft ordered from STX Korea and delivered in Mina Saqr Port / UAE on 03/04/2016.

Until delivery time, Team commenced dismantling of cylinder units, alternator dismantled, old crankshaft transferred to deck, block cleaning has been carried out.

New crankshaft transferred to Engine room on 04/04/2016, counter weights transferred from old shaft, measured and started installation. Lock pin, oil seal ring and V-ring replaced. Alternator fixed back, checked, alignment check has been carried out, found in good order.

Commenced installation of new cylinder units, recently overhauled t/c fitted back, oil and air cooler cleaning carried out.

Aux engine flushing had been carried out for 48 hours.

Idle running test had been carried out on 12/04/2016, Deflection and bearing check has been carried out, found in good order. Next day tested with 100kW, same checks had been carried out, found in good order. Tested with 350 kW and found satisfactorily.

Aux engine No:1 put into service on 16/04/2016.

Aux Engine Safety/Duplex and New Auto Shock Filter Installation

3 set of 25 microns safety/ duplex filters installed on Aux engine platforms, fuel, drain and air lines modified accordingly. Filters tested and found in good order.

New 10/5 microns auto shock filter installation to the purifier room carried out; fuel, drain, air and tracing line extended from ex-filter to new one and from new filter to aux engines. Filter automation settings entered to control unit, tested and found in good order.
