B. REASON

Difficulties were encountered during the installation of the seats in Final Assembly Line. After investigation some passenger seat tracks have been found out of tolerances.

The defect identified is a lateral shift of the machining axis of the recesses.

This condition, if not detected and corrected, could lead to installation failure to perform its intended function during emergency landing phases and may result in potential serious injuries to passengers.

Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin consists in inspecting the seat tracks and in locally or entirely replacing seat tracks, depending on inspection results.

COMPLIANCE: Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is recommended by ATR.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A. GENERAL

The following instructions assume that work will be accomplished when the aircraft is in the appropriate maintenance configuration.

B. JOB SET-UP

(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical network and connect the aircraft to ground as per AMM (JIC) 24-40-00 EAD 10000.

(2) Valid for aircraft model 42-300 and 42-320, in zones 222 and 232, RH side, remove passenger seats as per AMM (JIC) 25-21-21 RAI 10000.

(3) Valid for aircraft model 42-400 and 42-500, in zones 221, 222, 231 and 232, LH and RH side, remove passenger seats as per AMM (JIC) 25-21-21 RAI 10000.

(4) In addition to all removed parts mentioned above, record the position and identify all possible parts installed on the seat tracks to be inspected and remove them.

C. INSPECTION

NOTE: During accomplishment of this Service Bulletin, fill the enclosed Accomplishment Report and send it to the address mentioned on the Accomplishment Report.

CAUTION: PAY ATTENTION DURING SEAT TRACK SEALANT REMOVAL NOT TO DAMAGE PROTECTION AND NOT TO CAUSE ACCIDENTAL SCRATCHES. CLEAN DRAIN HOLES AS NECESSARY.

- Before starting the inspection, clean the seat track if necessary.

- Start the inspection with tool item 3 at level of the last ligament touching the tool item 2.

D. TESTS

None.

E. CLOSE-UP

(1) Re-install in FWD cargo area (between FR13 and FR17) sealant item 6, Material No. 05-113 or No. 09-044B, in track ends only and sealant item 7, Material No. 09-044A or 09-044B in the track if removed (Refer to SRM 51-35-00 and figure 3 for details).

(2) Re-install all parts that have been removed on the seat tracks during this inspection.

(3) Re-install passenger seats as per AMM (JIC) 25-21-21 RAI 10000.

(4) Re-energize the aircraft electrical network and disconnect the aircraft from ground as per AMM (JIC) 24-40-00 EAD 10000.

4. TYPE DESIGN RECOVERING

TASK 1: REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT TRACK RECESSES

(1) Valid for aircraft model 42-300 and 42-320, from FR13 to FR24, perform one of the following procedure depending of the involved area:

- SRM 530000-300-818, REPAIR (UPPER HORIZONTAL FLANGE REPLACEMENT).

or

- SRM 530000-300-837, REPAIR SCHEME FOR SPLICING.

or

- SRM 530000-300-856, REPAIR SCHEME FOR SEAT TRACK SPLICING AT THE FLOOR BEAM.

NOTE: In case of several ligaments are found out of tolerance on the same seat track section which implies seat track entire replacement, please contact ATR prior to further action providing with P/N of involved seat track.

TASK 2: REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT TRACK RECESSES

(1) Valid for aircraft model 42-400 and 42-500, from FR13 to FR24, perform one of the following procedure depending of the involved area:

- SRM 530000-300-818, REPAIR (UPPER HORIZONTAL FLANGE REPLACEMENT).

or

- SRM 530000-300-832, REPAIR SCHEME FOR SPLICING.

or

- SRM 530000-300-853, REPAIR SCHEME FOR SEAT TRACK SPLICING AT THE FLOOR BEAM.

NOTE: In case of several ligaments are found out of tolerance on the same seat track section which implies seat track entire replacement, please contact ATR prior to further action providing with P/N of involved seat track.
