Message from the GOVWinter has arrived. And just in time. The Rotary Club of Maynard ordered just the right weather. A coating of snow put everyone in the mood for an old fashioned Christmas parade.Thousands of people lined the streets of Maynard waiting for the annual Rotary Christmas parade to go by. Santa waved to the crowds from above as he circled the area in his helicop-ter waving to all. Jo Jo White, former Celtics player and new restaurant owner in Maynard was the Grand Marshall of the parade. Fire engines from Acton, Stow, and Boxboroughjoined the Maynard fire department and were followed by many antique cars, Miss Massachusetts, bands, scouts, dance classes and finally Santa himself pulled by his eight not sotiny reindeer. This is a community event Maynard Rotary can be proud of! Congratulations Maynard Rotarians!
This is the time of year when everyone takes pictures. You may have taken a winning picture this year. Rotary International has just announced a photo contest. Read this newsletter or
go to HYPERLINK "http://www.rotary.org" www.rotary.org and learn how you can win. You will be asked again for your pictures in February for the district photo contest.
As we approach the holidays, remember there are many in need. There is an online auction which will benefit those less fortunate than us. If you are going to buy the items anyway,
this is a great way to help others painlessly. Please read the article in this newsletter.
Your donation to the Rotary Foundation must be made before December 31, 2009 to be tax deductible for this tax year. Many clubs have matching programs to help you get your Paul
Harris award faster. As you can see by the thermometer this Page 1/2, we have not yet reached ? way to our goal. Your help as a club or individual is appreciated.
The season of Christmas parties has begun! Each club does some form of celebration.
As we approach the big holidays of Hanukkah and Christmas, enjoy the season. And, if your club is small and wants to
join the Acton-Boxborough sponsored multi club Christmas party, please notify Lindsay Dean at 978-263-8703.
The more, the merrier.
