THE WORD
Weapon # 1
“Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.”
“…for I find delight in your commandments, which I love.”
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
“I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold.
~ Psalm 119: 24, 48, 105, 127
“When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the
statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against
Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes.
~ Deuteronomy 6:20-24
And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore
to give to our fathers. And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he
might preserve us alive, as we are this day.
~ Deuteronomy 6:20-24
~ The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his
might.… Take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand firm…. and take… the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God…
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing to the
division of joints and of marrow, and discerning
the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
~ Hebrews 4:12

PRAYER
Weapon # 2
Psalm 119:9-11
me not wander from your command-10 With my whole heart I seek you; let
ments.
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love.
Take my heart, Lord, Take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
“Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
Prayerlessness is our declaration of independence
from God.

“Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things, and give me life in your ways.”
“Keep steady my step according to your promise,
and let no iniquity get dominion over me.”
~ Psalm 119:36-37 & 133

MEDITATION / MEMORIZATION
Weapon # 3
Meditation is spiritually “tasting” the Scripture—
delighting in it, sensing the sweetness of the teaching,
feeling the conviction of what it tells us about ourselves,
and thanking God and praising God for what it
shows us about him.
Meditation is also spiritually ‘digesting’ the Scripture,
applying it, thinking about how it affects you,
describes you, guides you in the most practical way. It is drawing strength from the Scripture, letting it give you hope, using it to remember
how loved you are.
To shift metaphors, meditation is taking the
truth down into our hearts until it catches fire there and begins to melt and shape our reactions to God, ourselves, and
the world.
Therefore we must pay much closer
attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
~ Hebrews 2:1
How much Scripture do
you have stored up in your heart
?
To have a lethal faith in your battle against sin,
you must store up Scripture deep within.
Consider the lethal faith of Jesus in his battle against temptation.
What next step do you
need to take in order to make
your faith lethal?
