Five Themes of Global Studies

• Global Interrelatedness: Serbia’s interaction with WWI caused the entire world to get involved in this war. The entire world played a part in this bloodshed.

• Utopia and Terror: War is a terrifying concept to begin with. People were most definitely afraid and even if they disagreed, they could not speak up about it. War was declared on Serbia to make the flow of life more peaceful, because the Austria-Hungary Empire wanted Serbia to know their place.

Themes of Global Studies Cont.

• Identity and Difference: Gavrilo Princip shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand because he wanted to stand up for his identity, he wanted to stand up for the people who were like him and who thought like he did. Although in our opinion, he handled things the wrong way, he exemplified identity and difference.
