Daily Activities - Day 3 Exciting Trip to Cikasungka Palm Oil Plantation (PTPN VIII)

The second trip in this program was eld trip of palm oil plantation in Cikasungka. After explaination from Cikasungka management, we went to eld of palm oil plantation. In thistime, some students tried to harvest fresh fruit bunch (FFB) from tree (1 Bunch = 20 Kg). They could see palm oil tree directly. It was very exciting for participants, especially japanese students because there is no palm oil tree in Japan.

Main Point “Palm oil is sustainable resource in the world ”

Harvesting Fruit Bunch

Good view of mill

We went to mi l l which produce crude pa lm o i l(CPO). In that time, the mill didn’t run the process becausethe amounts of fresh fruit bunch was not enough to do it. Some students seemed disappointed because of it, but we were still enthusiastic to know more about palm oil processing. The unit production of this mill are loading ramp, sterilizer, stripper, vertical clarication tank, presser, digester, oil purier, vacum dryer and crude palm oil storage tank

Daily Activities - Day 4

Wonderful Journey in Baduy Village

This tr ip was real ly wonderful because very challenging. We needed arround 30 minutesto reach baduy village from bis station by walking. Visiting baduy village felt like traveling back in time. The Baduy devides into two groups, Baduy Luar (Outer) and Baduy Dalam (Inner). In my simple word, Baduy Dalam is pure Baduy who holdstrongly their cultures (rules) and Badui Luar isBaduy who can receive outside cultures.

Interesting Point

Hill Climbing

The traditional buildings of baduy etnic was so awesome.Their Buildings are made by nuture material such as bamboo and wood. Baduy people don’t use “cut and ll method” to build their house. It is built based on the contour of lands. That method can keep their environment natural.

With baduy people

“ They hold

their

cultures

strongly”

“ They take

what they

need only,

not too much”

They believe that they have the mandate to maintain the harmony and balance of the universe, which depends on the preservation of their cultures.

Daily Activities - Day 5 Explore Baduy Village more

Staying in Gazebo Kampung (Baduy Luar Village) was like surviving in ancient civilization. There was no mobile phonesignal, no electricity and television. We spent our time talking about Baduy’s life with baduy people at night. In the morning, we toke bath down in the river. After that,we observed the interesting Baduy’s daily life. Many great view and fresh air can be founded in this village. The Baduy relies on farming to meet their daily needs. During harvest season, they will keep their paddy into the barn that called“leuit”.

Interesting Point

“ Baduy people

are always

grateful for

what they

have in life ”

The bamboo bridge

Go down to the river

From their way of living, there are lots of thing that we can learn from Baduy. Their harmonywith nature and bel ie f are part of their traditional religion “SundaWiwitan”, successfully help them to lead simple and humble w a y o f l i f e i n t h e w o r l d .

Daily Activities - Day 6 Interesting student seminar

Fun Game by Japanese Students

Dinner together before Closing Ceremony

In the last day, before closing ceremony, all of participantscommittee members, and sensei had dinner together. We joked and got interesting conversation with the others. I felt the warmth atmosphere of this event. At that n ight , we fe l t that we were fami ly.

Takura said “This time for Japanese Student “. Yeah he spoke so loudly to give spirit for all of students. We were enthusiastic to play Japanese game. For playing this game,The partisipants who got one chair for sitting down made a circle, except one person who didn't get chair had to stand at center of circle (in front of the them) to give some instructions. When instructor said “basket”, all of the participants moved from their chair. One of participant who didn't get chair would be the
