    FALL BOOKSALES

THANK YOU TO ANNA BIERMEIER After 25 (!) amazing years of planning, coordinat-ing, and helping to staff the monthly Friends of the Library book sales, Anna Biermeier is taking a well deserved “break.” I estimate that Anna has spent approximately 1200 hours arranging for sale space, calling volunteers, setting up tables, moving books, and raising money for the Middle-ton Public Library. If I have underestimated the time she has devoted, I deeply apologize. Anyone who hasn’t helped arrange, set up for, or work a library book sale cannot imagine the amount of energy, hard work, or commitment in-volved. Organizing library book sales is not for the faint of heart—although I will definitely not minimize the great sense of satisfaction or fun involved either.

As a librarian at the Middleton Public Library for 24 years I was one of the lucky beneficiaries of all that hard work & commitment: I estimate that I had the privilege of hosting over 400 li-brary programs and events and guess who provided the money for all those authors, musicians, extra books, coffee, cookies and pizzas? Yup, the Friends of the Library via all those book sales (monthly & ongoing on the main level)!

I cannot thank Anna and all her cohorts enough. And I encourage any of you who want to help your library prosper & grow to think about volun-teering to help the Friends. I am sure Anna would enthusiastically concur. -Liz Dannenbaum, librarian, retired
