Equipping Generations . . .

Dear Church Family,

As we enter into September, we enter into the close of the church year.

This means we will be beginning discussion on the budget and voting on it

by the end of the month. This means before too long we will start thinking

about our committees and teams and who ought to fill those needs. This

means we are in need of new volunteers to help teach in the Children’s

and Youth departments as some of our faithful volunteers from last year

look to recharge in the company of friends during the Sunday School hour

and as Stephanie and Johnny begin new aspects of ministry in those areas.

This means we start to look at our Deacons and who will serve in the

coming year. And this means that you will begin to hear of new

opportunities to minister and to be ministered to in the new church year.

Be prayerful about every one of these components to our outreach and

ministry here at WHBC and be open to how God might lead you to be a

part of it all.

I came out of recent staff retreat with a renewed focus and concern for

who we are as a church. I believe there are many things we are doing well,

but that there are also things we can do better. On October 12th I will be

sharing my vision for the coming year and outlining where I believe we

should go and what we should be about. Our verse for the coming year is:

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good

works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but

encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day

drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)

My passion is that we learn how to stir each other up in the right way; that

we learn how to encourage each other to the right goals; and that we meet

together for the right reasons. It’s going to be a great year!

Blessings,

Pastor Tim

Parent’s Night Out & Children’s Church

Parent’s Night Out on Friday, September 12th from 6:30 to 9 PM. Register your kids AND sign up to

volunteer in the Atrium. Children’s Church on Sunday, September 14th at 10:50 AM.

Dear Parents,

We are attempting to expand our communications with parents of youth and our church family. So, we have created a weekly youth newsletter called, “The Blue Sheet.” On it, you’ll find various opportunities for you to plug in and many opportunities for our youth and their friends to connect to the WHBC Student Ministry. You may find a current copy of the Blue Sheet in the Atrium. You can’t miss them, they are printed on blue paper.

We are in this journey together to help our children become more and more like Christ. Please know I pray for you and in return I ask for your prayers.

May God bless you this school year and may He find us faithful to the confession that “Jesus is Lord!”

Until Christ is formed in Youth, Johnny Gonzales Minister to Students
