“Maggie Olson, Jasmine Davis,
Mohammed Al Jumaili, Tommy Sivick
and Franklin Moreno-Sosa went to the
Standing Rock Reservation with the
Rector this summer. They came back
having learned that changleska wakan in
the Lakota language means holy circle or
sacred hoop. The holy circle includes all
people. In the Christian tradition it is
similar to the messianic table at which all
have a place, or the circular symbolism of
our rose window with everything in inter
-relationship. On the Standing Rock
Reservation Kevin Locke taught our
young people to dance with a hoop. The
dance of life is a holy circle in which all
are one.”July 2011
Thank you to all who contributed to
make this trip possible!
