A year ago this month we celebrated God’s
faithfulness as we moved into our new worship
sanctuary. In the year since that rst service, God
has met us here Sunday after Sunday.
In September we will begin a new major sermon
series in the Old Testament book of Exodus. In the
series “The God Who Hears,” we will grapple with
the themes of calling, doubt, promise, and trust.
The God who heard the cries of the Israelites is
the same God who hears our prayers today.
We will also begin oering an important new
Soul Care training called Growing 101, which will
equip attendees to accurately handle the Word of
God in their own lives and the lives of others. You
can attend the Sunday morning or Tuesday night
track. Find out more at yourchurch.com/events.

Life CentersOne of the most pressing challenges the Church faces today is to continue to ght for the sanctity and value of all human beings since they are stamped with God’s image. As we know from Scripture, God forms each life in the mother’s womb (Ps. 139:13) so even the unborn child is exactly that, a precious life. Throughout the Bible we see that God’s heart is directed towards the weak, and He calls upon His people to care for the weak and unprotected. Our strategic partner, Life Centers, exists to come alongside the Church and help us fulll this task. The mission of Life Centers is to arm the value of life by providing a network of care to those experiencing pregnancy-related crises and by compassionately presenting biblical truth resulting in changed lives to the glory of God. One of the exciting things about Life Centers is they provide care to men and women at all stages of need: pregnancy counseling, baby-showers for mothers who choose life, and even a wonderful GRACE program to help minister to those recovering from abortion.
Unfortunately, even many of us within the Church are not aware just how grave the situation is today. A few statistics may help. One in ve pregnancies ends in abortion. Over 10,000 abortions occur in Indiana each year. In America, one baby is aborted every 24 seconds. Over 45 million abortions have occurred since Roe V. Wade in 1973. September is an important month for Life Centers because they raise awareness and funding through their Walk and Run for Life. This year there are two days you can participate in these events, the rst is Saturday, September 22, and the second is Sunday, September 30. You can get more information as to times and locations at www.lifecenters.com. There are number of ways to get involved through 24-hour counseling, medical support, administrative help, cleaning projects, and hosting baby showers. For more information please email Christy Ripperger at [email protected].

BACK AT IT!After a summer of a pace change, it’s that time of year when school
gets underway, routines are re-established, and we generally have that “time to get back to work” mentality. The same is true for many of our missionaries. We have enjoyed the company of a number of them this summer who have now headed (or will shortly) back to their overseas assignments: Tom and Robin Miyakawa back to Thailand (along with Erin Reed for one year); Grant and Deb Olson back to Hungary; Elisa Groth and Beth Bergstrom back to East Asia and Lizzie Talcott to her new assignment in Ft. Collins, CO, as executive assistant to the president of ELIC; and Eric and Karisa Steiner back to the Caspian.
Here’s something to think about as you head back into what is no doubt a busy fall season: if we all just got back to work as normal, just doing the things we always have done, would that get us any closer to nishing the task? Well, it depends what our routines are, doesn’t it? If there is nothing in your “back to work” list that includes the unreached nations of the world, then you will not be helping to nish the task of making disciples of all nations. So take a minute and ask yourself, “What am I or my family doing to make a dierence in the dark third of the world, those who today could not hear about Jesus even if they wanted, because there is no one in their people group to tell them?”
Here’s one idea: join a Barnabas team to pray for and encourage one of the missionaries listed above. Bruce and Paige Osborne [[email protected]] have just become our new Barnabas teams coordinators, and they would love to help you “get to work” for the glory of Jesus among the nations!
