Weddings: Congratulations! Thank you for choosing St. Joseph Church as the place to celebrate your marriage. Preparation takes approximately 6 months. To begin the process it is necessary that the couple attend an information night. This meeting takes place in Room 5 of the school once a month and is always the second Monday of each month at 7:00 in the evening.

Justice, Power and Divine Love

People tend to have a very clear cut understanding of justice, there should be one hour’s pay for one hour’s work. Most would say this was unjust that some would work only one hour and be paid for twelve. A Union steward would immediately make a complaint to the Company, if this were an actual case. We still tend to think in terms of a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye…etc. This understanding of “Justice” is based on illusions of power and control. Fear of this “Justice” makes individuals “do the “Good and avoid the evil”, yet remove the fear of the “Power” and pun-ishment and the “Justice” vaporizes.

The “Divine Justice” is God’s love for each person. Remember that in the time of Jesus a “Day’s Wage’ was just sufficient to provide a family with basic food. If a father did not work, his children did not have food for that day. Imagine the pain of the fathers who waited in the plaza –eleven hours hoping for work, imagine their pain knowing that they would meet their hungry children upon returning home. The Father’s love always is infi-nitely greater than our “Justice”. The problem is that we continu-ally return to our own idea of “Justice” condemning ourselves and others. I suggest that we consider how we have a distorted sense of “Justice” that is tainted with the illusion of “Power” and fully depend on the “Justice of God”, which is DIVINE LOVE.

English Children’s Choir Our Parish is excited to announce the opening of a new English Children’s Choir! All Children with the ability to read and write and up to 11 years old, are eligible to join. Along with learning hymns for Mass, rehearsals will also include rudiments on sing-ing, theory, and liturgy. Rehearsals will be on Fridays’ from 6:30pm – 7:30pm beginning October 3rd. Justicia, Poder y Amor Divino

Las personas tienden a tener una comprensión muy clara de lo que es la justicia, debe haber pago de una hora por el trabajo de una hora. La mayoría diría que esto es injusto, que algunos solo trabajen sólo una hora y se les pague por doce. Un delegado del sindi-cato haría inmediatamente una reclamación a la em-presa, si se tratara de un caso real. Todavía tendemos a pensar en términos de diente por diente, ojo por ojo ... etc. Esta comprensión de la "Justicia" se basa en ilusiones de poder y control. El miedo de esta "Justicia" hace que los individuos "Hagan el bien y eviten el mal ", sin embargo elimine el miedo al

“Poder” y castigo y la “Justicia” se vaporiza.

La "Justicia Divina" es el amor de Dios por cada persona. Re-cuerde que en los tiempos de Jesús un "Salario del Día” era sufi-ciente para proporcionar a una familia con los alimentos básicos. Si un padre no trabajaba, sus hijos no tenían comida para ese día. Imagínese el dolor de los padres que esperaban en la plaza -once horas esperando conseguir trabajo, imaginen su dolor sa-biendo que iban a encontrarse con sus hijos con hambre al regre-sar a casa. El amor del Padre siempre es infinitamente más gran-de que nuestra "Justicia". El problema es que continuamente regresamos a nuestra propia idea de “Justicia” condenándonos a nosotros mismos y a otros. Sugiero que consideremos como hemos distorsionado el sentido de “Justicia” que está manchada con la ilusión del “Poder” y dependemos totalmente en la “Justicia de Dios”, que es AMOR DIVINO. GK

English Children’s Choir

¡Nuestra parroquia se complace en anunciar la apertura de un nuevo coro de Inglés Infantil! Todos los niños/as con la capaci-dad de leer y escribir y tengan hasta los 11 años, pueden partici-par en este coro. Además de aprender canticos para la Misa, los ensayos también incluirán nociones sobre el canto, teoría, y li-turgia. Los ensayos serán los viernes de 6:30pm-7:30pm comen-zando el 3 de octubre. September 2014 RCIA Update

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Process prepares non-baptized persons for the re-ception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirma-tion and Eucharist (First Communion). Bap-tized persons seeking to come into Full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church through Confirmation and/or Eucha-rist may also attend these sessions. The meetings take place in the Cenacle on the second floor of the Parish Center on Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until noon. There will be no session on the 28, as we all will be participating in the FI-ESTA.

Having a Quinceañera for your daughter?

Please come to the Quinceañera Information Night which will take place every second Monday of the month in the Holy Family Room from 6:45PM-8:00PM.

Here you will be given all the infor-mation needed and you can also reg-ister your Quinceañera. There is a $100.00 deposit to reserve your date.

Attending the Information Night is one of the requirements to register, you must also bring their Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates.

¿Sabía Usted? Póngale alto a actividades inapropiadas antes que éstas sucedan

Enseñe a sus niños a respetar la palabra “alto”. Enseñe a sus hijos preescolares que “alto” significa “alto” y que sus hijos tienen el derecho de ponerle alto a personas que tocan su cuerpo. Obvia-mente, excepciones tendrán que ser hechas para los médicos y los padres, pero incluso los padres deben escuchar cuando un hijo no desea ser cosquilleado o abrazado. Reforzar esta excelente lec-ción da a sus niños el poder de reconocer – y poner alto – al “contacto físico inapropiado” por parte de otros, si llegara a suce-der.

Learn to stop inappropriate activity before it happens Teach your child to respect the word “stop!” Teach your pre-schooler that “stop” means “stop,” and that your child has the right to stop people from touching his or her body. Obviously, exceptions will have to be made for doctors and parents, but even parents must listen when a child doesn’t want to be tick-led or hugged anymore. Reinforcing this excellent lesson gives your child the power to recognize -- and to stop -- “bad touching” by others if it should happen.

Health Promoters I am most happy to invite you to be a parish “Health Promoter” . This will be a new ministry dedicated to the whole health of all our brothers and sisters. At present time the parish has about 20 groups that promote a multitude a ways of how improve one’s health.

We are now coordinating with El Centro de San Martin, St. Margaret Center and the County Department of Mental Health in the development and formation of this new and vital ministry. A “Health Promoter” will receive about 12 three hour classes, and if selected to serve, will be asked to make a commitment to serve for 3 years.

During those three years of service, the ‘Health Promoter” would be asked to attend 4 development sessions a year. Please consider being a “Health Promoter”. We need about 60 volunteers—one could be you. I hope that each ministry and group would have at least three volunteers serving in this ministry .

On October 11th, in the Guadalupe Hall, we will have the Orientation Meeting from 1:30pm-5:00pm for this new Ministry.

Las clases comienzan el sábado, 4 de octubre en el Salón Gua-dalupe de la 1:00pm-5:00pm. Procesión Especial Sábado 25 de Octubre La Comunidad dedicada a la devoción del Se-ñor de los Milagros, realizará su procesión anual y su misa el último sábado de octubre. La procesión comienza a las 4:00pm de la tarde y termina con la Misa de las 7pm. En el Salón Redahan habrá ricos platillos Perua-nos y otras cositas típicas de Perú. Pase y dis-frute de una linda tarde. Para los asistentes a la Misa de 5:00 pm, habrá cerca de 30 espacios para estacionarse en el

Centro Parroquial y en el estacionamiento detrás de Centro Parroquial.

Special Procession Saturday Oct 25th

The Community dedicated to the devotion of El Señor de los Milagros will conduct their annual Procession and Mass on the last Saturday of October. The procession begins at 4:00 in the afternoon and ends with the 7:00 PM Mass. In the Redahan Hall there will be typical Peruvian Food and Peruvian articles. Please stop by and enjoy delicious Peruvian dishes. For those attending the 5:00 PM Mass, there should be about 30 parking spaces in the two parking lots on both sides of the Parish Center.
