25th Sunday in Ordinary Time AMOS 8:4-7 The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: "Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.” PSALMS 113:1-2, 4-8 He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people. 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling. LUKE 16:1-13 “He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.”

Joanne Gibson, Editor Diana Zuna-Nieves, Associate Editor Bulletin announcements and columns are due on Mondays before 2 PM except before holidays.

Bulletin drafts are submitted to Msgr. Flynn for review. Email submissions to [email protected]. Email photos of St. Mark’s events to [email protected].

Jesus was always at the center of Padre Pio’s life. In the early days of his priesthood, he explained that he was in ecstasy throughout Mass. Once he shared, and that especially at the Consecration, he could see everyone who had asked for his prayers. Eyewitnesses at his Masses often reported seeing

Padre Pio struggle to move, in visible agony, and they even saw the crown of thorns on his head. After he arrived at San Giovanni Rotundo, a priest wrote a libelous pamphlet about Padre Pio. That priest later wound up in prison

for other reasons. Upon his release, he sought out Padre Pio. The saint ran out to meet the priest, just as the prodigal’s father ran out to meet his son.

Padre Pio endured countless attacks from inside and outside the Church. Despite the attacks, he touched thousands of lives while on earth, and continues his

work in heaven. He directed his spiritual children to Jesus through three steps. First, they are to keep the Commandments of the Church. The second step is prayer—the basic prayers being a daily Rosary and daily Mass. The third and final step was to spend thirty minutes in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament each week.

Do you need special help or an intercession to persevere in grace? Call upon Padre Pio’s favor and join those of us who have asked, through prayer, to be his spiritual children. He gave this promise to us: “I shall stand at the gates of Paradise until all my spiritual children have entered.” Source: 12 Amazing Facts about Padre Pio.

They would be most grateful for a friendly visit to erase the monotony of the day and to exchange thoughts and interests. Parishioners of St. Mark's! If you know of friends, neighbors, or family that would appreciate this outreach service, free and flexible, please call Donna at the Rectory at 732-449-6364 or Peggie O'Brien at 732-282-0562.
