Preparing Our Hearts

*Affirmation of Faith The Nicene Creed 880 We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen

and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

*Gloria Patri 70 Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen. Amen.

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Apartment Outreach

For some time now, there has been a lot of desire to reach out to the apartments around Asbury. I have been in contact with several different complexes. On September 28th at 2pm, we are going door to door in the Calais Forest and Turtle Creek apartment complexes. We will be handing out baggies with different assortment of goodies/food, along with an invitation to our Fall Festival which will take place on Sunday, October 12th from 3-6 pm, and a listing of our worship times. We believe this is a great opportunity to reach out to people in our neighborhood. Most people are probably uneasy about going door to door, so there will be two opportunities for training. One will be held on September 14th during Sunday School and the other will be on September 21st at noon, following the worship services. Please be in prayer about this. The more people who volunteer and are a part of this, the more outreach we can do.

Blessings, Pastor Chase Food Kits for the Homeless

On May 18th this year, Change the World Day, many volunteers gathered in the Wilson Activity Center, assembly line fashion, and packed 200 food kits for the homeless. We have determined this to be a ministry that would benefit many year round, instead of just once a year. We will periodically have a date and time to build homeless kits. …… More information to come.
