President Randy Frazer called the meeting of the Wichita A’s to order on August 28, 2017. Wayne Orr moved and it was seconded that the minutes from the previous meeting be approved as printed in the newsletter. Motion passed. Luke Headley was recog-nized as our only visitor. Treasurer James Sharp gave an updated financial report. Sunshine Lady, Bonita Graham, pointed out how glad we are that Wayne Orr is back with us but saddened that Virginia Courtright had passed away. Everyone was asked to keep the Hou-ston area in their prayers as it experiences the current hurricane. Club dues are due on October 1. One Board Member at Large position is open for elections next month. Contact our President if you wish to nominate someone for this position. The club is looking for a new editor for our newsletter. Linda Kibbe has decided to step down after many years of wonderful service. If anyone is interested or willing to take on this task con-tact Randy or Linda. Jim Nungesser has also decided to step down as our representative to the Wichita Car Council so we are looking for someone to take his place.
Bob Broeckelman shared a “Thank-you” note-book from Maize Elementary for bringing his car to share with them. Jim Clark announced a fund raiser in Mentor, Kansas on November 18 to help restore the Car-negie Library. Dennis Ellerman announced that next year the Marc National Meet would be in Branson, MO. Mike James updated the club on “Breakfast in the Park” on September 9. Gilbert Adams reminded the club of the “Concordia Kansas Educational Tour” for September 14-16. Doris Jean Ludlow invited eve-ryone to the “Ice-cream Social” at their place on Sep-tember 24, and Tom Ruggles announced the “Men’s Tour” on November 10. After a brief break with refreshments provided by Bonita Graham, Linda Kibbe, Doris Ludlow, Ju-dy Hill, and Carolyn Nungesser; Mike James present-ed a program on Roadside Trouble Shooting. Next Meeting is September 22
Meeting adjourned. Dawna Ruggles, Secretary
WICHITA A’S MEETING MINUTES Minisa Park, August 28, 2017
The September meeting means it is time for the annual election of officers. All current office holders have expressed a willingness to serve another term. We do need one person for the “member at large” position, Gary Hileman has expressed interest in running for this, if you would like to be considered for any position on the board let me know and we will get your name on the ballot. We are also needing a Newsletter editor and Area Car Coun-cil Representative. We will be having a board meeting in October so if you know of any issues the board needs to consider let someone on the board know so that it can be discussed. Best Regards, Randy Frazer, President
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Have you ever driven your Model A in the rain, and have it “act up?” This is exactly what happened to me while on tour with the Western Carolina’s Model A Club. First the car began to periodically “skip.” Then it began to really run rough, until it just died! The cause - moisture in the distributor. Well, this is a common problem in cars without electronic ignitions. Usually, the humidity level in the atmosphere is something the hot engine “burns” off before coming in contact with our distributors. But, when it rains, there is just too much moisture in the atmosphere and the inside of the distributor cap will begin to “sweat.” This in turn causes moisture droplets to fall onto the points, thus interrupting the flow of elec-tricity between the ignition coil and the spark plugs. Generally, if you can get the distributor dry, you can go on your merry way. But how to solve the problem before it happens is the real question. Nobody wants to try to stand in a downpour over a hot engine and try to dry out their distributor! WD-40 is the answer! It was developed in 1953 byNorm Larson, founder of the Rocket Chemical Com-pany, in San Diego, CA. WD-40, from the abbreviation "Water Displacement, 40th formula," was origi-nally designed to repel water and prevent corrosion. Another little “tool” to keep in your arsenal! If eve-ry 3-4 months you will open up your distributor and spray the underside of the cap and down into the dis-tributor and the tops of the spark plugs and the plug “wires,” a rain shower will never leave you sitting by the side of the road waiting on AAA! ~Happy Begg, Palmetto A's of South Carolina Article can be viewed at: http://www.mafca.com/downloads/Technical/MoistureOutofDistributor.pdf

ERA FASHIONS
5800 5662
No. 5800. A curved band that outlines the neck in front and ties in back perfects the fit of a sun-tan neckline. No. 5662. A summer sports frock has no sleeves and a suntan neckline finished with a handkerchief scarf knot-ted in back.
Copied from McCall’s magazine August 1929
Sun-Tan Fashions Create Becoming New Necklines
Sun-tan necklines have developed from a simple V or U cut low in back to necklines that are smartly decorative. In one attractive new version, narrow straps are tied in a bow above the deep U to add a trimming touch and to hold the frock in place however violently the wearer exercises. In another version a deep V is finished with soft scarf ends that may be knotted either high or low, according to whether one wants very much sunburn or very little sunburn.
