4-Hers will interpret about their main project. Only one person can present a project. Projects will be decided on a first-come, first-serve basis. RSVP with your project by 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8th to Audra Graves.

TO MAKE THE BEST BETTER Nutrition Quiz Bowl Informational Meeting

WHEN: Monday, August 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Hale County Extension Office The contest is open to all age groups: Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors. You will increase your knowledge of basic nutrition, fitness, healthy lifestyles, food preparation, consumer information, and food and kitchen safe-ty. If you are interested in participating, contact Audra Graves at 291-5270.

Food & Nutrition Organizational Meeting WHEN: Monday, September 9th at 5:00 p.m. at Abernathy Elementary School Teachers Lounge COUNTY FOOD SHOW: TBA HOST CLUB: Abernathy DISTRICT FOOD SHOW: Saturday, November 9th in Levelland Please bring calendars so dates can be set for County Food Show and Food Project activities. Food Challenge Orientation WHEN: Monday, September 9th 5:30 p.m. at Abernathy Elementary School Teachers Lounge Tuesday, September 10th at 5:30 p.m. at Hale County Extension Office DISTRICT CONTEST: Monday, October 28th in Levelland

This contest, modeled after such competitions as the Food Network’s “Iron Chef,” allows 4-H member to demonstrate their culinary and food safety skills. We will discuss major rule changes, how the contest works, and figure out practice schedules if necessary. If your child is interested, please be at one of the orientation meetings. If you have any questions, contact Audra Graves at 291-5270.

Table Time at the Tri-State Fair District 2 has been invited to participate in the Table Time-Plates of the Panhandle Contest at the Tri-State Fair. This would be a great opportunity for our Food and Nutrition kids to get some good experience. Since this contest is open up to other states, it can be considered a national contest!!

WHEN: Monday, September 16th WHERE: Amarillo National Center TIME: 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. COST: $60.00 REGISTRATION DUE: Saturday, August 31st

Teams will draw to be in one of the four categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, & Snack. *Note: Each dish will have a Texas Ag product, & it must be discussed in the presentation.

SOUTH PLAINS FAIR ENTRIES The South Plains Fair will again be accepting handmade/homemade items for judging through their Youth Department. Prize money is given for first, second and third places. Please have your entries to the Extension office by the due date. Mark your entries Hale County 4-H then your club name. Beverly Wall and Mary Ann James will take all entries to the South Plains Fair.
