Ms. Rix is a long-time NWGHA resident at the Highrises. Her Adult Education teachers state that Ms. Rix is always eager to learn something new. She serves as an inspiration to people who think they are too “old” to go back to school. GED prep classes are free and open to anyone in Floyd County. Transportation is provided! Classes are held Monday thru Thursday from 9:00am- 2:30pm. NWGHA Adult Education: 706-295-5487.

What made you want to get your GED?My job at Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital ended when the hospital

closed, and I knew I needed to get a GED in order to get a better job.

What is one of the hardest things you have to deal with during classes?

Catching on to things or understanding things being explained by the teacher because it is so different from

my instruction when I was a teenager.

How has the NWGHA Adult Education Program helped you?

I believe that I have more confidence.

What advice would you give someone who is interested in getting their GED?

I’ll be 80 on my next birthday, you are never too old to learn!
