training INSTOTM training approach:
○ Identification, Normal Operations, Startup/Shutdown, Troubleshooting, Optimization
Simulator consists of two components:○ Digital Control System (DCS) Screen○ 3D Virtual Refinery
Goal: allow operators to practice startup and shutdown procedures, emergency response, and acquire a better understanding of the process dynamics

McNeil Consumer Healthcare-Summer 2012 Fort Washington, PA Over-the-counter medicine manufacturer McNeil Consumer Healthcare is a Johnson &
company Manufactures over-the-counter medications such as
Tylenol, Motrin and Zyrtec. The Fort Washington location previously manufactured
OTC liquid and solid medications.Entered consent decree to the FDA in 2011 and has
since redesigned/rebuilt portions of the Fort Washington facility.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare How did you obtain this internship?
Using connections to get in contact with engineering manager. What did you do?
Worked on commissioning and qualification for the restart of the Fort Washington liquids manufacturing facility while McNeil Consumer Healthcare was under consent decree to the FDA.
Tasks included: ○ P&ID walkdowns○ Performed calculations for cleaning validation○ Built turnover packages and assisted in site acceptance testing.

P&ID’s and general process/unit operation knowledge from EDII Process Control Unit Operations.
What was your favorite part? Seeing a manufacturing facility progress from construction to early
the earlier stages on site acceptance testing. What was your least favorite part?
At times dull documentation necessary due FDA regulation/McNeil’s consent decree.
