ITHACA

Page 43: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

Throughout his long journey, Odysseus had many

grueling experiences. He met people, creatures and characters that hindered

him and/or aided him.

Page 44: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

His is a truly great story. The wonderful thing about it, though, is that, if we look close enough, we can see that Odysseus’s journey is

every human being’s journey.

Page 45: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

We have our own personal versions of the Lotus-eaters,

Polyphemus, the Laestrygonians, the Sirens,

Circe, Calypso, Scylla & Charybdis -- those that gave

difficulty and pain unto our lives.

Page 46: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

However, there are also those like Aeolus, Nausicaa, Teiresias, Athena, Ino,

Eumaues and Eurcleia – people/events that helped

shape us and make us grow into better people.

Page 47: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

We also have our own personal Ithaca – that

place, position or state that gives us true happiness,

makes us feel fulfillment, or makes us feel at home.

Page 48: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

!!! REMEMBER !!!

-Throughout his journeys, all kinds of thing were thrown at Odysseus - to stop him. However, he NEVER stopped. He NEVER gave up. He was UNSTOPPABLE. He was INVINCIBLE.

FROM William ernest henley

“It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.”
