Summary of our Beliefs• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. For whatever the reason, it appears as though the sense of awe and wonderment that we once felt for God and all things related has somewhat diminished in our ranks if not disappeared

But when you think about it, could it be that whether your place in the service each week is sitting in the pew or standing behind the pulpit, are we really sure that we have a confident grasp on what reverence in relationship to God is really all about? To some, reverence may mean remaining perfectly quiet throughout the entire service; while for others it may mean shouting praises to God at the top of their lungs. What does it mean to truly have reverence for God? Today we begin a series on the reverence of God titled “On Holy Ground” with the mes-sage, “Holy Dirt.” And over the next several weeks we will take a look at what true reverence of God is all about as well as the part that God expects it to play in our lives. - Charles A. Dr. David Trim, director of the world church’s Office of Archives, Statistics and Research will speak for first and second service. At 4:00 p.m. Karla Rivera Bucklew will present a mini-concert, followed by Dr. Thomas Farr, director of the Religious Freedom Project at Georgetown University, who will discuss American foreign policy and the plight of Christians in the world.

Come on, Ring those bells! Join the Sligo Ringers for another year of ringing praise to our Lord. You do not have to read music but you do need to be able to tell the difference between a space and a line. Being able to count to 4 is a help. Bartholomew Philpotts-Kerr has been a member at Sligo church for 12 years. In addition to his role as an el-der, his passion for community service keeps him busy in his retirement. Most of us know him for the ginger candies he gives each Sabbath, with a warm smile.

Anika Sampson-Anderson, native Marylander, has been singing since childhood. Anika’s voice has been heard in more than half of the 50 states and in 5 countries abroad. She is the wife of one, the mother of two and loves to use her gift of singing for Christ.

Action in Montgomery (AIM) University is coming to Sligo next week!
