    Principals MessageDear Parents and Students,

Iam excited towelcome you backto DraperElementary forthe 2011-12

school year. I hope you have had awonderful summer break, and areready to come back to school with a

positive attitude, a desire to workhard, and an appetite for learning.

This year you will see some newthings happening within the walls ofour school and the new directionthis will take us. One area I wouldlike to share with you is our DragonTraining program. During the firstweek of school all our students weretrained on our three new schoolrules: Be Safe, Be Kind and BeResponsible. The students were notonly taught the rules, but we alsodemonstrated how each of these

rules should correctly look in variouslocations. This is an important piecein teaching them appropriatebehaviors at school.

Then on Friday we also trainedour Dragons in a new intervention/enrichment program we will beusing for our academic needs.Every student in the building wasassigned to a different teacher for a30-minute activity. The groups aremade up of students from differentgrades and your Dragon will haveopportunities to work with variousteachers as well. We will use thistraining as a way to provide ourstudents academic supports atwhatever individual level they needand it will also build betterrelationships within our school.

Thank you for all the support you

give our school. This truly is a teameffort as we try to provide the besteducation to our Dragons. I loveworking with you and your students.Lets make it a great year!
