I will also send home a detailed letter about the various types of readings your child will experience! It is so exciting!! How do friends and family depend on each other is our essential question this week. The kids have amazing conversations about this. We did make a nice writing about a good friend and we then worked hard to make a friendly letter thank you card to a special friend. Be sure to ask about that!! Our first spelling test and sight Communication: I am hoping that you are able to view my blog. Please subscribe at the bottom for email updates or simply just bookmark the page. There are LOTS of pictures!! We do not want kids entering between the buses by the back doors. When you need to pick your child up , please pick them up at the back doors. Again, we do not want to have children going between the buses. Also at the back door it is very helpful if you park as close to the building as you can. Your child should have their note and give it to one of the teachers at the back door. It is also necessary for your child to check out with one of those adults. It is very helpful if you put your child’s full name and your full name on the note you write. Those teachers simply do not know every adult. As always we have your child’s utmost safety as our first priority! sure to ask about that!! Our first spelling test and sight word page is arriving home today. It is a new testing format so it may take awhile to get used to! They did just fine for the first one. Also, they will need to master the words that come home on the Word of the Day page. It is our goal that each 2 nd grader knows 300 words by the end of the year! The children worked very hard in our math class this week! This is and will continue to be a challenging math curriculum. It will expose your child to many strategies that even you will not be familiar with. Please do not be alarmed. Yes they want them to try new ways, but in the end solving problems comes down to the strategy that works best for each learner! Have a great weekend.
