Detector tubes and detector pumps are designed, manufactured and calibrated together to form a unit. System accuracy dependsnot only on stroke volume, but also on the suction characteristics of the pump. Interchanging certain pump and tube brands hasbeen shown to cause erroneous results and should not be practiced. Use only with pumps specified by Sensidyne.

The selection guide contains general descriptions of detector tubes for use only with Sensidyne sampling pumps. This guideincludes a list of hazardous substances that can be detected. However, under no circumstances should the product be used exceptby qualified, trained personnel and not until the instructions, labels, warning, precautions, and other literature accompanying themhave been carefully read, understood, and followed. Only they contain the complete and detailed information concerning theseproducts.

“Conversion chart” tube requires the use of a conversion chart to interpret the length of the stain

“Color intensity” gas concentration is determined by the intensity of the tube stain and not by its length

TWA Detector TubesThe Time-Weighted Average (TWA) tubes are designed to provide a long term sample by using apersonal monitoring pump (e.g., GilAir-5, LFS-113) at a low flow rate. Samples up to eight hours arepossible, and the results are immediate with a direct reading length-of-stain tube. The TWA tubeseliminate laboratory turnaround time and allow faster implementation of correctable measures toworker exposure problems.

Hazardous Material Detection Kit

The Sensidyne Hazmat III Kit is a por-table hazardous material detection kit thatis lightweight, rugged, and capable of on-the-spot detection of numerous airbornecontaminants. The kit utilizes a uniquetwo-step approach for rapid identifica-tion of airborne contaminants. The Pri-mary test uses two unique multi-stagequalitative tubes and a special color chartto determine nearly 70 compounds in aslittle as 2–3 minutes. Soil Sampling Kit

Field screening for contaminated soil isfast and easy using the Sensidyne SoilSampling Kit. A hand operated boringtool is used to make a three foot deephole in the soil just large enough to ac-cept a special sampling probe with adetector tube inserted. A direct readingvapor zone sample is then made usingthe hand pump and any one of numer-ous detector tubes.

One-Hand Adapter

The one-hand adapter for the SensidyneModel AP-1S Pump is ideal for one handsampling from a ladder or into hard-to-reach places. With the adapter installedand a tube inserted, the pump handlecan be drawn and locked without actu-ally taking a sample. The pump can thenbe extended into the sampling area andactivated with one hand.

Extension Hose

An extension hose of either 5 meters or10 meters in length is available for usein confined space entry, as well as a rigidtelescoping extension probe with up to10 working feet of length. The designof the tube holder at the free end of thehose permits a gas-tight fitting. Since thedetector tube is located at the samplingend of the hose, there is no need to al-low for the volume of air in the hoseline.

Hot Probe

The Hot Probe allows sampling of gasesat elevated temperatures for applicationssuch as auto exhaust or stack emissionstesting. The Hot Probe rapidly cools thegas before it enters the detector tube.
