FOOD BANK DAY is on Mon-
day, June 29. Food bank will
begin at noon.
The location will be at Meadow
Park Gym at 41220 Park Avenue
in Big Bear Lake. This will be a
drive through so no one getting their food will get
out the car.
If you know of anyone who is ill, sched-
uled for surgery, or just needs some cheer,
please call June at (909) 253-4657.
Sympathy cards were sent to the family of
Jim McCulchean and Fred Jones. A get
well card was sent to Betty Graham who is
recovering at home.
Balance exercises help pre-
vent falls, a common problem in older adults that can have serious consequences. Many lower-body strength exercises also will improve your bal-ance. Exercises to improve your balance include Tai Chi,
a “moving meditation” that involves shifting the body slowly, gently, and precisely, while breathing deeply.
Examples of balance exercises Try standing on one foot, then the other. If at first you need support, hold on to something sturdy. Work your way up to doing this movement without support. Get up from a chair without using your hands or have a sturdy chair or a person nearby to hold on to if you feel unsteady. Try the heel-to-toe walk. As you walk, put the heel of one foot just in front of the toes of your other foot. Your heel and toes should touch or almost touch. Talk with your doctor if you are unsure about any particular exer-cise.

Top of the Hill Gang News—Travel Club
All day trips have been suspended until further notice as well as our monthly trav-el club meetings. Leave a message on Leonard and Susan’s phone and we will get back to you as soon as possible at 909-585-9733.
Darrel Gardner is our extended trip coor-dinator who will arrange your down pay-ments, payment plans, and answer any questions . Call him at 951-264-4736.
Extended TRIPS: We still have on schedule two cruises. A cabin on a cruise is 2 people. Please let us know you are going so we can reserve a space on the SCOBBV Van. Our transportation is less than paying $20 per day at the ports and SCOBBV van can carry 5 booked cabins. September 7: (4 DAY CRUISE to Catalina and Mex-ico). We have 2 cabins sold (that I know of maybe 3) and 1 male looking for a roommate. SCOBBV Van Transportation will only be $20 per person. No pass-port required but highly recommended. Full Payment due in June. November 21, 2020 to December 6, 2020: 15 night Hawaiian Islands Cruise. NO AIRFLIGHT TRAV-EL. We have deposits made on 3 cabins. We have one male looking for a cabin mate who has not made a down payment yet. We also have a female who is looking for a cabin mate who did make a down pay-ment with someone and that person canceled out, please help her to avoid paying a single supplement in addition to her trip, she really needs a roommate. The person who cancelled lost their deposit and we hate to see another person lose out, please contact us or Darrel for contact info. The Hawaii trip SCOBBV transportation will be $40 per person.

Everyone living in the United
States and its five territories is
required by law to be counted in
the 2020 Census.
Under the adjusted 2020 Census operational plan,
field activities would resume after June 1, 2020, as
Area Census Offices begin returning to full staff ca-
pacity. In-person activities, including enumeration,
office work, and processing activities, will incorpo-
rate the most current guidance from authorities to en-
sure the health and safety of staff and the public.
Getting a complete and accurate census count is criti-
cally important since it can affect funding grants to
Big Bear Valley.
You can complete online a short 10 minutes at
https://my2020census.gov/
It's safe, secure, and confidential. Your information
and privacy are protected.
If someone visits your home later this year to collect
information for the 2020 Census, check to make sure
they have a valid ID badge with their photograph, a
U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an
expiration date. Census workers may also carry Cen-
sus Bureau bags and other equipment with the Cen-
sus Bureau logo.
U.S. Census forms are not mailed to PO Boxes.
Fred Jones passed away
peacefully at his home sur-
rounded by his beloved wife,
Peggy and dog, Maggie on
April 21. Fred served on our
SCOBBV board for more than
10 years and was our club’s newsletter editor for the
past few years. He always had a desire to enhance the
lives for our seniors with his ideas for recreational and
socializing activities. He will be surely missed. Fred and
Peg were married for 64 years as a result of a blind date.
