SENECA COUNTY BIBLE RECORDS, VOL. TWO

It has taken seven years to collect and collate volume two of

Seneca County's Bible records. The Society has grown considerably

since 1983 when our first volume was published. We have printed

cemetery records, indexes to wills and estates, ancestor charts,

ten years of newsletters, and have many other projects "in the

works". We believe we are accomplishing one of our goals - that

of disseminating genealogical material through our meetings and our

publications - but we still have a lot more to do!

These Bible records were donated by our members, collected and

typed by Shirley Rogier and Beverly Wheatley, and indexed by

Beverly and her husband, jerald. Kent Cartwright, our computer

expert, helped print out the index. Rebecca Hill assisted with

translating and proofreading some of the records. Beverly

Wheatley, chairman of the publications committee, steered the

project to its finish.

Most of the Bible records remain in private hands. The Society

does not have a collection of Bibles, but only received photocopies

of the family records section. Hopefully, if you find a Bible you

are interested in, you can contact the person whose name is listed

at the beginning of the transcription. The few that do not have

addresses were acquired without the name of the owner. We hope

that you find the ancestor you have been searching for in this

book.

Henry was widowed and remarried toCatherne (Wertz) Brendle, but no information about this marriageis included.This family settled in Hopewell Twp . from Frederick Co., Marylandin 1826. Many of the names listed are buried in the CreegerCemetery on St. Rt . 18 between Tiffin and Bascom or in FairmontCemetery in Tiffin. This Bible was obtained at the estate saleof J. daughter of John C. and Eliza Ann Souser Long. Nancy was born in

Seneca Co., OH 20 AUG 1853. The Bible was passed down in her

family to her grand-daughter, Mrs. Vera Yeager, Indianapolis, In.

The Bible was "lost" to the family during a garage sale severalyears ago. Mrs. Yeager was selling some items from her home at

4312 Nlchol Ave., Anderson, In., In preparation for moving to

The Seneca County CENTENNIAL BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY, pages 454-456includes a biographical sketch of Christian Trott who was stillliving at the time the volume was published. That account listsIda's husband as Andrew Wagner, and Ellen's name as Ella. MaryBadger says that her father, George W. Wagner and her uncle,Edward L. Wagner were brothers. Since Christian Trott died in1931 and many of the listed deaths are later, obviously someonehas kept the record current.
