SEND Learning Support Dear Parent/Carer, I hope you found the activities and resources in last week’s Learning Support sheet useful. For our children working at home this may be a confusing and difficult time, so please don’t put pressure on yourself or your child. Do what you can, when you can, keeping you and your child as happy and calm as possible is the main objective! Internet Safety - Supervise your child when going on suggested You Tube links or on the internet to ensure that the site is safe – even though we have recommended them and checked them to be safe we cannot be sure they do not get hacked - internet safety is important. Feel free to look at these together and explore the weblinks. Please take photos of the work that you are doing and the things that you are making, e.g. cooking and gardening. I hope you found the activities and resources in last week’s Learning Support sheet useful.

Autism Support:

Barnet Autism Team are pleased to announce the introduction of a hotline to support parents of autistic children/YP living in Barnet. The aim of this hotline is to discuss concerns with social communication, emotional regulation and education by suggesting strategies and/or access to other services. They are able to support parents specifically around the following; emotional regulation, setting up schedules and routines in the home, communication, and support for home education.

This is not an anonymous hotline and information will be shared with relevant professionals as necessary.

The hotline will be in operation 10am to 11am, Monday - Friday, from 20 April, 2020

The phone number is 020 8359 3167

Phone calls can last a maximum of 20 minutes.

The NHS have released a set of videos to support families of children with SEND in response to the Covid-19 situation. They are currently available in 3 languages. Please do share these with your families. They have many strategies and resources modelled.

Coronavirus - A Book for Children
