Send in the Clowns – Bee’s???
VBS fun at Bless India in January
At Bless India the children and staff look forward to
the arrival of the clowns. The clowns bring fun, laugh-
ter and bible lessons packaged together in a VBS for-
mat. The lessons this year were on the Beatitudes
from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. And the Bless In-
dia land seems an appropriate place – you can almost
picture Jesus climbing a short distance up the side of
one of the beautiful mountains, being seated and
teaching the multitude down below.
Since we were teaching the Bee – attitudes, the clowns thought it only appropriate that we look
like bees (sort of …). Each of the 5 days of VBS started
with an opening time of robust action songs followed by
a “special delivery” of the mystery box. The box con-
tained something to help introduce the Beatitude for the
morning. Then the clowns entertained with a funny, cra-
zy, (usually messy) skit before the boys and girls were
divided into three groups. One group had a bible les-
son, another crafts and the third games. The groups
rotated to each station and then it was time for the clos-
ing.
More singing (these guys really like to sing, I wish
you could hear and see them), another “special de-
livery” of the mystery box (the children remember,
someone has to sign for it), the introduction of an-
other beatitude and more clown silliness and then it
was time for lunch and to wonder what were those
clowns were going to do tomorrow.

Birthday Party Fun !!
The clowns finished off
the week of VBS with a
Birthday Party for all the
children!
During the party the
clowns tried to make a
“Super Duper Birthday
Cake”.
The clowns finished off the week of VBS with a Birthday Party for all the children!
During the party the clowns tried to make a “Super Duper Birthday Cake”. They used science, illu-
sion, juggling, eggs, electronic photon arranger energy stick transport-
ers and lots of silliness. The result was not a Super Duper Cake (or
any cake) but a big mess (did I mention eggs?)! And then there was
that elephant tooth paste…
After the clown silliness everyone enjoyed a real cake, gift bags for
each child, a special meal and the evening was topped off with an
amazing fireworks show with the beautiful mountains as a backdrop.
What a way to end our amazing week at Bless India!
