3Introduction

This technology was developed by Mr. Ramesh Raskar and his team at the MIT photography lab .

The main purpose of developing these technology is to increase the frame capacity “By having the Trillion FRAMES per second.”

Where the present pico (10^(-12)) photography is able is produce only 1 million frames per second.

• This photo was taken by Dr. Harold E. Edgerton in 1964.

• The duration of the flash in this photo is about 1/3 microseconds.

5What is Femto Photography?

Femto photography is the advanced technology of the pico photography

It is a new imaging technology which can create a light in a motion

Femto photography can visualizes the world around one trillion frames per second

7PRINCIPLE BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY

A packet of photons are released which travels around with the speed of the light (Million times faster than ordinary bullet)

The motion/scattering of the packet can shows the light in motion

Each reflected photons reach the camera at different times (each photon frame can forms a individual raw frame)

These frames combine to develop the replica of image

8Corner Photography

The seemingly impossible task of recording what is beyond the line of sight is possible due to ultra‐fast imaging.

A new form of photography, Femto-photography exploits the finite speed of light and analyzes 'echoes of light'.

25Advantages

This is used to analyze the material properties and faults in industries

We can construct the camera which captures more than a million frames per second

We can recover the 3 – dimensional shape of the objects which can’t done by present 3-D cameras

Page 26: Seminar presentation on Femto Photography

26Disadvantages

We can NOT capture the arbitrary event at pico second time revolution

The data of the image captured will be too high

The work with the photons may create some health problems
