• Increasing demand of fast and accurate authentication

and identification.

• Reducing use of paper and pencil.

• Encouraging more of electronic transactions.

MOTIVATION

Page 4: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• A form of biometric.

• Based on ability to recognize face.

• System compares the scans to records stored in

central or local database or even on a smart card.

INTRODUCTION

Page 5: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• Highly accurate and high enrolment and verification

rates.

• Does not require an expert.

• Uses existing hardware infrastructure.

• Allows to perform passive identification.

FACE RECOGNITION ALGORITHMS

Page 12: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• False Acceptance Rate(FAR)

- The probability of incorrectly identifying an individual or failing to reject an imposter.• False Reject Rate(FRR)

- The probability of failing to identify an enrolee.

For an efficient system both FAR and FRR values should be very less.

PERFORMANCE

Page 13: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• Security

• Authentication

• Back-end Verification

APPLICATIONS

Page 14: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• Convenient and socially acceptable.

• Easy to use and can be used without the

knowledge of the probe.

• It is very inexpensive and its price should

continue to go down.

ADVANTAGES

Page 15: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• Can’t tell the difference between twins.

• Imposters can easily authenticate themselves by using

clowns.

DISADVANTAGES

Page 16: Seminar on Face recognition technology

• Face recognition technologies have been associated

generally with very costly top secure applications.

• Today the core technologies have evolved and the cost of

equipment is going down dramatically.

• Certain application of face recognition technology are

now cost effective, reliable and highly accurate.
