National Informatics Centre The Project implementing agency

NIC offers state-of the art IT solution to the Government andCorporate Sectors - Consultancy, S/W development, Webdevelopment, Networking expertise & Training.

NICNET - computer communication network of NIC,connecting the national capital, the state capitals & all districtheadquarters as well as certain C.D. blocks having CICs.

The Network uses terrestrial, wireless & satellitecommunication. NICNET has international gateways at Delhi,

Mumbai,Bangalore, Chennai and Calcutta.

NICNET has 800+ C-200/C-250 VSATs, 32 high speed VSATs,150 TDMA, 1060 RO-VSATs and a number of FTDMA VSATs.NICNET provides uplink at 64 kbps and downlink at 256 kbpsto 3 Mbps.

NICNET based Agricultural Marketing InformationNetwork (AGMARKNET) which envisages to transmitprice and market arrivals of commodities in markets toState Agricultural Marketing Board / Directorate for analysis and local dissemination.

Onward transmission of the same to DMI Hqrs.

1st Phase of AGMARKNET has connected 670Agricultural Produce Markets and 40 StateAgricultural Marketing Boards & Directorates .
