You can reach our Grimselhotels easily by public transport, car and bus.

For the journey by car or bus you can use our outdoor parking for free at both hotels. Moreover the

Grimsel Hospiz has got an underground car park.

Winter

Every day takes our guided and organized arrival and departure from respectively to Innertkirchen place.

The meeting point for the big journey adventure is at the head office from the Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG.

From there you travel by post car to the power station Handeck. With the cable car you reach Ger-

stenegg. Afterward you ride with a little bus subterraneously through a tunnel to the power station

Grimsel 1. The last stage you scale again by a cable car.

The journey is not suitable for wheelchairs. Good shoes are recommended.

Gelmer Funicular – Vertical adrenaline kick Those looking for an adrenaline shot will get it here! A gradient of maximum 106% makes this the steepest funicu-lar in Europe. Built to transport the heavy construction materials for the Gelmer dam, the funicular is today open for adventure-seeking hikers and transports them up in no time up to 1860 m. above sea level. Once at the top, a walk around the turquoise coloured lake is a must, or a hike up to the Gelmer hut for some more spectacular views. More information www.grimselwelt.ch Trift Aerial Cable Car – Access to the longest suspension bridge in the Alps The gondola glides weightlessly above the Trift gorge and takes 8 passengers at a time from the Gadmen Valley up to the Trift area. Once only used for workers, this gondola now accesses a hiking area - the highlight of which is the Trift suspension bridge. With a span of 170m, this is one of the longest suspension bridge in the Alps. It takes a bit of courage, but the view from the bridge across the lake and up to the glacier makes it worthwhile. More information www.grimselwelt.ch Sidelhorn Aerial Cable Car – Sliding into the Oberaar area Take a ride on the new Sidelhorn aerial cable car and glide from the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz above the Grimsel stor-age lake up to the top of the pass. This cable car used to be purely a transport lift for the KWO power company but has now been completely overhauled and has a new concession to transport tourists up to the top of the pass. From here, at the watershed between north and south - the Rhone and Aare rivers, one can undertake some won-derful high alpine hikes in unmarked terrain. And wonderful views can be had of the KWO's realm. More information www.grimselwelt.ch Visit of the power station – Energy in Granite The Grimselwelt power plants are installations you can actually touch. A world where you can experience power and find out everything you’ve always wanted to know about it. Producing hydroelectricity requires technology. Deep inside the solid granite mountains is a pulsating underground world where our turbines revolve year-in, year-out, reliably producing hydroelectricity. Experience energy in granite at close hand. More information www.grimselwelt.ch Adventure Hydrodam Storage lakes are energy reserves – the latent energy stored in water can be turned into electrical energy immedi-ately. Experience the inside of the Räterichsboden Hydrodam. This dam was built in 1950. The storage lake in the Aare-Valley with a volume of 25 Mio m3 is situated on 1767 a.s.l. More information www.grimselwelt.ch Visit Hydroelectricity The underground Innertkirchen I Power Plant is the lowest in elevation but not the lowest in importance. All of the water from the Grimsel catchment area channels through this power plant and is converted into electricity. This power plant, with its state-of-the-art operating system, reliably regulates the Swiss electricity grid. A tour through this power plant is an electrifying experience!
