Its pretty annoying to go back home during special holidays like Chuseok. Traffic is crazy
during this period. So, this time, I gave up on going back home. Instead Ill go another day.Its a better idea to ENJOY the time more without those holiday problems.
However, giving up on going back home doesnt mean giving up on Chuseok. I made an
appointment with my friends who live in Cheonan to enjoy and celebrate Chuseok together.
We made Songpyeon and Kimbab. It was really fun. Can you imagine a filling consisting ofbananas, cookies, coco powder and sugar all mixed together? It was a challenge. We gave
up on eating them in the end but we enjoyed cooking anyway. And, fortunately the Kimbab
was successful. (Kimbab is much easier to make than Songpyeon, isnt it?) Both the tasteand shape were good!
Even though I had a great time with my friends I was still a little disappointed that I
couldnt spend time with my family. One of my foreign friends told me that it seems likeyoung people nowadays dont really care about tradition in Korea and its a pity. I agree
with him. Im not talking about being old-fashioned. Just that its definitely important to
keep a relationship with our family and relatives. Perhaps its more meaningful because welive apart from our family and we dont have many chances to meet together during the
semester.
Lets not miss the chance to be with those we hold dear. I hope you had a great Chuseok. =)
When I first went to Taiwan , I was surprised. A number of
Taiwanese were riding motorcycles. In addition, Taiwon looked
like Korea in the 1990s with so much construction underway.Interestingly, my tour guide told us that they do not paint their
buildings anymore because of Taiwans high humidity that breaksthe paint down in as little as ten tears.
However the semiconductor seminar was completely different.
It was very clean and I learned the details of the latest specialty
technology developed by Samsung Cheil industry which is makinga semiconductor-based wafer. I didnt understand the pretreatment
process; it was interesting but very difficult. I enjoyed learning
about the semiconductor industry, in addition, the second highestbuilding in the world Taipei 101 building was great to see, I was
very surprised.
