    AREA V: RESEARCH

    Research is an avenue through &hich ne& 'no&ledge is discovered, applied or veri!iedand through &hich appropriate technologies are generated. (hus, it is a $asic re)uirement !or

    an educational institution to have a !irml* esta$lished research and development program. Itsthrusts and priorities should $e congruent to those identi!ied in the development plans o!regional and national R and #+oriented agencies such as E#A, #O-(, CE# and thosethrusts o! the higher education institution itsel!.

    (he institutional leadership in research should $e pro+active and developmental inorientation. It must provide ade)uate and sustained $udget allocation annuall* !or the College.Ade)uate ph*sical !acilities, la$orator* e)uipment and supplies !or research should $eprovided. (he College has to maintain strong research lin'ages &ith various R and # agencies.

    A. Priorities and Relevance

    (he institution shall !ormulate and implement identi!ied researches /pre!era$l*multidisciplinar* and colla$orative in nature0 in consonance &ith the institutional, regional andnational priorities. (he Institution1s research should $e in consonance &ith its priorities and thepriorities emphasied in the -cience and (echnolog* Agenda o! the #O-(.

    B. Funding and Other Resources

    (he -UC shall $e encouraged to allocate !unds !or research. Resources !rom variousagencies, locall* and a$road, should $e e%plored to augment the institution1s appropriation. In+house revie&s shall $e conducted periodicall*. Research results are disseminated to local andnational instrumentalities interested in colla$orating &ith academic institutions.

    C. Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Utiliation o! ResearchResults"Outputs

    Each !acult* is re)uired to underta'e or conduct research especiall* in his"her !ield o!specialiation to supplement and improve the teaching+learning process and satis!* one o! the!our+!old mandated !unctions o! the -UC. (o sustain the )ualit* o! researches, incentivesthrough honoraria, grant o! service credits, and &or'+load ad2ustments shall $e a!!orded to the!acult* &ho are conducting research. (he conduct o! department researches shall $eencouraged in addition to specialied researches underta'en $* the !acult*. At $est, acollective and"or colla$orative research underta'en $* the Institution"College shall $e de!inedand !ocused. Moreover, researches completed shall $e pilot+tested and eventuall*, utilied.

    Researches &hether on the proposal, on+going or completed stage ma* $e pu$lished inthe proper media and disseminated to target clientele.
