There are so many reasons we don’t get what we need to feel supported, cared for and sustained. Second, most people are condioned to be great achievers and giv- ers, not great receivers, so we have a hard me receiving what we need, even when it shows up. Third, our cultural beliefs equate our value and worth to self-sacrifice not self-care, so we subconsciously sabotage ourselves. Fourth, we are so busy in our minds, we lose connecon with our bodies unl they revolt. It’s no surprise so many people are burned out, overwhelmed, stressed, or stretched and feel unsupported or like they are not geng what they need to thrive. This pracce has the super power to change that. STEP ONE: Start Your Day in Harmony Not Alarm. If you start your day by waking up to a buzzing or jolng alarm, you start your day contracted and blocked off, you acvate your sympathec nervous system which acvates flight or fight and you start in panic before your feet meet the floor. The best way to awake is naturally, but if you need something to wake you up, choose a HARMONY INDUCING ring tone on your phone or replace your alarm clock with a CD player that plays gentle heart opening music. Do this morning pracce – which takes less than 3 minutes – every morning as the way you start your day. Most people don’t get what they need because they don’t know what they need.

There are so many reasons we don’t get what we need to feel supported, cared for and sustained. Here’s just four: First, we don’t ask ourselves what we need as a daily practice, and if you don’t know what you need, you can’t ask for it or receive it. Second, most people are conditioned to be great achievers and giv-ers, not great receivers, so we have a hard time receiving what we need, even when it shows up. This practice has the super power to change that.

STEP TWO: Check Your Life Force Levels.

Imagine your body is like a chalice or a vessel that has a certain amount of life force in it any given time, and live by these two receiving, self-care rules:

Receiving rule #1 and #2 – I always keep my life force at least half full. I never serve from my reserves.

This means you have to know where your life force levels are– every morning. So, before you get out of bed, close your eyes, put your hand on your belly, and ask your Inner Wisdom:

“How full is my life force today?” And ask for a number between 0 and 100 – with 100 being totally full and 0 being empty.

The first number that comes is the number, no cheating. Here’s the scale and the deal about how this impacts how you spend your energy and time that day. Wherever you are, don’t stress out and don’t cheat...start where you are and choose the act of self-love to make a shift to a more sustaining, supportive and nourishing life.

• 75 or above. This is your sweet self-care spot. You have a surplus of life force to serve from. So even if you don’t receive, you won’t deplete yourself.

• Between 50-75. Still good and you need to receive to stay good. You have energy to give AND you also need to make sure you receive or you risk stress, burnout and overwhelm.

• Below 50. You are serving from your reserves and are a ticking overwhelm bomb. You need to moderate and modify how you give energy this day – and give less because you are already depleted. Take action to make sure you are receiving and filling up. Create space for yourself, ask for support, don’t do more than necessary.

• Below 25. You are in burnout and are serving from and spending life force you may never be able to replenish. You need an intervention to make changes now. You need space and support to recharge and restore and support to make the changes in your life that will keep you out of burnout.

STEP THREE: Ask “What Do I Need to Receive Today” and Make Sure You Get It, No Matter What.

After you get your life force number, do the super power self-care practice of asking your Inner Wisdom the most important question you will likely ask all day:

1. Connect with your Inner Wisdom. Close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, take a deep breath, and ask the question. Keep breathing until the answer comes. It may come in a word, a sound, a picture, or a knowing.

Note: If you haven’t been talking to your Inner Wisdom, it may not answer at first. That’s okay. Just choose want you want to receive that day. As you begin to show up for yourself, your Inner Wisdom will eventually start showing up for you.

2. Receive the Wisdom. Whatever it says, you MUST make sure you receive that today. It’s often simple like love, hugs, peace, a nap, a walk, a yoga class – it’s the simple but little things that make self-care happen and keep your energy tanks full. You don’t need to take off to Tahiti for 7 days or hire a personal chef to replenish. Bonus: Write what you need to receive on your hand, post it or journal.

3. Promise to Give Yourself What You Need. Throughout the day, remember what you need and give it to yourself. If you find yourself getting crabby, cranky or feeling drained, remember what you need to receive and give it to yourself.

“What do I need to receive today?” or just simply “What do I need today?”
